Mick Stover and I managed to get my computer up and running again.. in that we completely replaced my broken mother board with his working mother board, and we also changed up the CPU too, since his chip was slightly better and used up less power. Still have to replace the power supply, which is the suspected culprit in all of this.
It took us FOREVER to get the system to boot, as in 5 hours from the time we installed the hard drive, until we finally got it to load Windows voluntarily. Turns out when my system crashed, it put my disk into LOCKED mode, and it took all night to unlock it, remind it that there is a OS installed on there, rebuild the MBR, and then give it a BCD.
This took two of us a while, because the first couple of attempts, we forgot to go into C:\ (as the prompt in recovery starts in X:\). Also, found out MicroSoft replaced FDISK with DISKPART. Good to know for when I want to partition in Windows.
But now that my van needs some emergency repairs, so I can get home this weekend. Thankfully, Mick Stover and I are going to fix it tomorrow, or else I am stranded for a few days. It is an easy fix, but we can't do that until the morning, so for tonight, we are going to watch ASH vs THE EVIL DEAD.
