On the subject of friend requests...

I occasionally get friend requests from people, so I figured maybe I should talk about this a bit.

Please do not be discouraged if I do not accept every friend request I get. That doesn't mean I dislike you or that I want nothing to do with you or anything. It's just that before I accept a friend request, I would like to have actually talked to the person who sent it, or at least have had contact with them in some form.

Essentially, before sending the request, give me a chance to know who you are, and what you're all about. Leave a comment or something. That usually helps me tremendously.

Yeah, I am not the biggest fan of friend lists for pretty much that reason. Your friends are the people you talk to/hang out with/etc., and trying to quantify that through a list of people is kind of... weird.

Like, I am able to keep track of people who regularly interact with me or the stuff I post. I see recurring names and faces among my messages, and that's a lot more gratifying.

well i cant hang out with my friends as all friends i have are not anywhere near me in a physical way TwT
and yeah seeing faces and names you see more often is better owo

I'm super cool and think you're super cool.  Can we be friends and talk about embarrassing watersports stuff???????

(Only half serious, I share the same thoughts as you towards the friending stuff.)

Well, I mean, we've had a good deal of interaction already, so I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.

I like friending on Inkbunny because some people hide their art (you'd be surprised how much people hide watersports work for example behind the friend lock) because of embarrassment or some other reason. Kinda sucks that people who want to draw or write about it are ashamed about it. :<

Can't wait to see more work from you. Don't let the haters get to you. ^^

The haters have so far stayed relatively away for now, though I don't want to jinx it.

But anyway, I do not have any hidden art. To be honest I didn't even know that was a thing, and I really don't want to artificially decrease my potential audience. In the off case that I draw something that is really that sensible that I cannot post it publicly, I usually send it directly to the person that concerns it, without leaving a record. So really, there's nothing to see.

Friending on Inkbunny isn't really "friending". In my opinion, I relate it kind of like Facebook friending, where sometimes you don't have to even know the people. That's preference though. I only friend people when I love their art, most of it, not just some.

If you actually wanted to chat, I'd be down for that. I wouldn't be upset if you unfriended me either. I'm just a fan. ^^

I'm kinda like this too, but I think I'm more strict than just a simple message to know them. I'm more like accepting if they actually seem interested to befriend me and not only just see my hidden drawings and then be silent forever.

Well, ideally it's not just a simple message, but an actual conversation or something. I've actually met some pretty amazing people just through regular comment banter.
