Well… this is pretty much spot-on for the lapdragonverse. #CalledIt.
On the subject of eugenics, I prefer the term "progenics" for approaches that don't make individual sacrifices for the collective good, which work by altering defective genes so an individual can go forward, have a healthy life… and yes, maybe even unfuck their germline.
In my imagination, this involves scouring humanity - maybe going further afield, even - to find a healthy gene to replace a defective one, or if we're going for full-on GATTACA babies, enhancing mediocre ones. But the foundation of the bioethics of the series is that the best way to make a designer baby is to make some designer parents, first, and let 'em fuck.
Or, at least let 'em fax their genomes to the hospital.
At least that way, the parents won't get left in the dust.
