Well, that sure took me long enough

I'm supposed to be trying to get sleep right away since tomorrow night I definitely need to be asleep at a decent time since vacation will be over and it's back to work again, but there's something that's been on my mind for some time that I really REALLY have to get off of it...

Long story short, something I more or less committed to one year, six months, and one day ago when I pretty much nuked my gallery on FA, I'm finally going all in on.  Back then, I had originally planned on keeping just a few select artists I was intending on commissioning on my watch list, but it didn't take long for said list to once again balloon to 345ish people being watched, and for a site i wasn't planning on hitting up that often I found myself using a great deal more than I was intending to.  It didn't really pan out how I was expecting, and the past several months I've been seriously contemplating doing what hubby has and just calling it off with that site.

For some time, on FurAffinity I've had notes disabled, anonymous users blocked (aka you had to have an account to even see my profile/gallery), and have even tried to keep visits (and the obvious favourites and watches that tend to come with such) down to a minimum.  I didn't quite get what I had wanted out of things, and eventually wound up saying enough is enough, even if it took my time to come to a rather solid conclusion of such in my mind.

In short, almost four and a half years ago I switched to InkBunny as my main site with SoFurry a very close second (although if I get my act in gear regarding writing, SoFurry might technically become my main "haunt" so to speak) due to a wide variety of reasons, but the most interesting reason that comes to mind is that a few friends managed to convince me into giving the sites a second look (or even third, in InkBunny's case) at things, and that's when a lot of the additional features these particular sites started to really stand out.  The biggest one has been how both sites handle tags.

Yes, tags are one of the main things I'm using as the reason for having switched primary usage to another site.  Why?  Well, because despite the rather rare occurrences where some people use them as a joke or try to circumvent things to showcase their art to a wider audience, the systems in SoFurry and InkBunny just work.  On top of that, and the reason why I wound up choosing InkBunny as the main is that their system is a rather potent and exemplary one - if I want to block a specific type of art (say, guro, hard vore, scat, or even My little pony) it's a simple case of just adding it into the blocked tags listings.  If I see artwork that's posted and obviously includes something I've blocked (I'll use MLP again, as that's one of my biggest pet peeves with tagging, as I tend not to like that kind of art - I'm not picking on it, it's just not really my thing, even if there's a chance I might be removing it from my blocked tags in the near future), it's as simple as putting in a suggestion.  This is something that helps improve the community.

Hell, even I have had a number of tags added to my various submissions and I have absolutely no problem with this, and doubly so if they're tags that very much so fit the artwork itself!!  Some people are just better at tagging, hence why the various commissioned artwork I post (although it's sporadic *whistles innocently*) is given what I can think of to cover most of the basics, and then if someone adds in half a dozen more so be it (some of my SoFurry posts have had their tags tripled!)

There was an almost six thousand character rant (5,978 characters to be preicse) about FurAffinity here that boiled down to my lack of faith in IMVU's policies and their behaviour in the past regarding several subjects, as well as a few paragraphs about my sheer surprise regarding why their site layout has barely changed at all on the user side of things since I had joined, but I felt it brought things out to be a lot more like an outright spiked clue by four of a rant and that it detracted from what I was intending with this journal in the first place so it's no more.  It wasn't seen by anyone on my watchlist, as it was never pushed through with this journal.

tl;dr: Finally cleared my watchlist on FurAffinity after having cleared my gallery a year and a half ago on there, verified that my notes were disabled, and then logged off for what will probably be the last time on there.  While it technically isn't a silent departure from FA (since I'm writing about it on SoFurry and InkBunny) it's close enough.  Besides, everything I've commissioned (except one pic to SoFurry, because I keep forgetting to post it there) has only been available on InkBunny and SoFurry for the past year and a half anyways.

Keyword blocking is a bit of a hassle code-wise, but it's really the only way to fly.
FA should have implemented it years ago, but that's true of a lot of stuff.

Truth be told, I had no idea how much work would be involved with such, but it's definitely a feature I appreciate!  Makes it easier to find what one is looking for (especially if an artist pulled their gallery from a site, or removed all of their older stuff), and of course if it's something one isn't into, you can easily (at least on the user's end) just click "block this" and 99.9% of the time you won't have to see it again ^_^

Love how folders and/or pools are implemented here though, which is rather well done ^_^

We've had six years to polish it, but there's still lots we want to do - ah well, only so much time in the day! Right now we're just glad to have a few more people to welcome (and welcome back :-).

Well, I never really left, unless one counts the Folding@Home team (and of which I joined Overclock.net's team, because it's my main haunt for forums, and they have cash and hardware prizes every month in the Foldathons, plus I ran in their Team Competitions back in 2014 (the team I was part of won in June that year, woohoo)).  Once I got used to a lot of the various features that InkBunny had it didn't take long to steadily transition away from other sites....  I'm technically now up to three placeholder accounts (FurryNetwork, which has a confusing front end (been a while since I got lost on the main page of a website), Weasyl (I never really got into it), and now FurAffinity (wide variety of reasons)).

Truth be told, my past couple of commissions have been from here, and I intend to make most if not all of my commissions be from artists here on InkBunny.

I think that's the best way. Artists care about getting their work seen, but most who take them care even more about commissions. They're far less likely to leave a site if it's a significant revenue source to them, and will pay more attention to those.
