[ Long Rant ] How jobs are like in Peru

So I've been meaning to make a journal about this for a long time and now I'm starting to get fed up with all this crap that happens.
I don't know if that happens in the US or not, but it happens all the fucking time in Peru.

To start, I work at Nintendo as a Sales Rep. If this job sounds like candies and rainbows, it.. kinda is, but it has a very dark side to it.

What if you get sick?
Well, too bad. If you want to have a sick day, that'll cost you a good chunk of money. First of all, you have to inform your supervisor that you are going to have a sick day,
then you have to go the hospital or clinic , visit the doctor, wait the huge wait line, and after seven hours, ( sometimes it's four ) you'll finally see the doctor.
This is the thing, it is up to the doctor whether to sign and stamp your receipt with his name and stuff , but if he doesn't (which is very often) then you're screwed.
Not only did you waste your money, but you also have to pay for your medicine to get better, but not only that, but your company will cut that day from your paycheck, so
that's a few dollars off your neck paycheck and there is nothing you can do, unless you are close to death, then you'll get some sick days, which is usually no more than one.

The job itself?
It's good, I love selling hardware and software from Nintendo, but holy shit , I absolutely hate the store chain where they sent me to work at.
The store is called " Wong ". It's a Supermarket where there is an electronic section and we have some Nintendo stuff there, it's all good for now.
When you come into work, you have to hand over a letter from your company to Wong to prove that you'll be working there, and that you are an official worker, then they
tell you the following information.

"We have zero tolerance for tardiness. Come in 1 second after the time when you have to come in, and you're out. Second strike, you're suspended for 3 days, Third Strike ,
and you're permanently kicked out. Keep in mind that each strike, will be followed by a call to your supervisor or higher up"

Now you'll think that you can come in, clock in and put your stuff away, then to the store? Nah, that's not how it works.
You have to come in first, security checks your bag , and if you have something they might sell at the store, you register it BUT DONT FORGET because if you do, they will
confiscate whatever item they think you " stole " and they will NOT give it to you again, no matter what you do. *ahem* and once security is done with that, you have to walk
to the second floor, and then find a spot to put your bag on but of course there are no lockers bceause why would there be lockers to have our stuff secure right?
That's now how this store works at all it seems.
So you put your shit somewhere safe, you come downstairs, and security once more... has to validate that you are well shaved, and don't smell like sweat, THEN you clock in.
If you are late AFTER all of that, then you get a strike, so it's always a good idea to come in 30 minutes before your shift starts....how stupid. But what if you finish
all of that ? Well, I clock in at 12:00pm and I can do that from 11:55am ~ 12:00pm. If I go a minute or a second after 12:00:00pm , then I get one strike.
Now let's be more realistic here, I am not the only person working here , so give yourself an idea of the wait line.

What about the treatment? Is it good?

HAHA, what a joke! Of course not! Why would it be good?

Let's start with the basics. The cafeteria. A place where you are supposed to sit down, get your food, and eat. Well, you can't buy food, or water. You have to get that on
your own, or buy it from the store (which I will get back to that BS in a minute). You have to warm up your food at home, and then bring it to work and pray to god that it
hasn't gone bad.
" why not heat it up at worK? " you ask? Did I mention that Wong has no microwaves, air-conditioning, water dispenser, or vending machines? Of course they don't,
Why would they give you all that BASIC stuff that other stores has? There is no regulation, there is no law or standards for that, so you have to deal with all their BS.
It's so funny to come in at work, watch everyone get their food from the cafeteria and if you ask for a bit of hot-sauce, you'll get a " Sorry, only for Wong workers ". What
about the water or juice they serve? You'll get the same reply. It's the most stupidest thing I have ever heard in a store.

Enough of that! What if you want to go the restroom or need a little break from work?

This is hilarious because we still use passes, and you only get two a day and they can't be close to another another, they have to be 3 hours apart. Meaning that if I go to
the restroom at 14:00 , then I can't go until 17:00 because that's how they roll. Oh an guess what? You're on a timer, and you have five minutes. Let me explain this.
If you need to go to the restroom, then you have to follow these simple yet time consuming steps that will only decrease the time you have available to do your " need ".

Go to Costumer Support counter, ask for a pass which you have to trade in your name tag to get that, then you have to go to the back (of course), and then security.
Security calls back Costumer Support for validation, and if they don't answer welp... too bad, the clock's ticking! Then after that, you go upstairs where you left your
stuff and inside of the bathroom, that's where the lockers are located (just so you know), and then you can take care of your " need ". All that in a time manner of FIVE MINUTES.
Dear god, if you go above 5 minutes, they will call you through that loud microphone where everybody that is in the store and shopping will be able to hear that you
took too long in the bathroom and you earn a strike. Fun right? Talk about having turbo when your stomach is constipated.
What if you have Diarrhea? Well, too bad. You can only go twice a day like I mentioned above, they do not give a shit about you at all.

Now let's talk about the actual breaks, can't be bad right? Well, think of a restroom break, but it's better. Instead of five minutes, it's TEN minutes. This is how it works.
Customer Support , Get Pass, Look for what you want to buy, and get your stuff on the cash register. NOT the quick ones, why would they let you shop quickly? Are you mad?
You'll have too much available that you might even sleep! Instead, you have to take the slow and tedious registered where people shop with the big carts and hundreds of
items per costumer and there you are with a bottle of water or soda and your six-pack of cookies. You better not buy at the fast registers because you'll earn a strike.
Beautiful. So, you buy your shit, you go back to Customer Support, they inspect carefully what you got. Yeah, check that Pepsi bottle I got and the receipt with one item,
make sure I didn't stole it because they take five minutes to check the damn thing. Then you go to the back, and then fuck... security again...same shit as before. They check
to make sure that you didn't steal anything, and call customer support to validate the receipt that was already signed by the person AT costumer support...so I guess they
don't trust themselves. " Ask them to put your name instead " you ask? Same thing, they will still call Support.
After all o that, THEN you can go upstairs and eat what you got... with whatever time you have left, if any. Same rule applies, don't take too long or you'll ear a strike.
You can get all 3 strikes in a single day if you are very unlucky.

Whoa Lipe... what a shit load of fuck.
Yeah, literally. That's what I have to deal with every single day. I'm not even going to talk about how tedious it is to work too.
You see, I'm only " there " to push sales and make sure my stuff sells quick. But the workers there don't really give a damn about us and they have more control over us than
anybody else. Say that you feel bad, and you want to go the restroom but the worker there doesn't feel like giving you permission to go. Welp, you can't.
An item that you sell is missing a price? Well, too bad. YOu have to wait for them to do it and IF they do it. Most of the times they don't. What if they need help? You BETTER
help them, or you can get in trouble or even kicked out if you are unlucky.

So there you go, a little rare rant that I thought I would let out. That's how things are in this country, or at least where I work at. I know all the store chains of Wong are
the same and if there was a place where I can complain without comprising my job spot, I would do it. There is so much Bullshit that happens behind the scenes, you don't
even know.

Until again,

~ Lipe

PS: I'm talking about the supermaket store chain Wong , the work itself from Nintendo is completely fine.

It's like that in the US too, especially for the lowest tier of employees.

I slipped on some ice once, and seriously hurt my back.

Forget about time off, though. Someone could cover my shift for that day, but I'd have to cover their shift later since the number of hours for a week were fixed. Can't work more or fewer. No excuses.

And with a job like that, I'd call it good luck to get 3 strikes in a day. Won't have to go back.

There are four supermaket chains in this country, all work the same as far as I know. But Wong takes the cake.
But geez, I'm sorry xwx

Oh, and then there was the time I got a concussion on the job. Forced to give me a week off, then scheduled me for a 12 hour shift during that week.

I had the medical paperwork to force them to back down, thankfully, but I also gave notice, and earned two weeks pay without showing up. Thanks to medical disability laws.

Shit like that happens here too.

Like, over a year ago, my mom fell at her work and had to be rushed to the hospital. She was out of work for several months, and by the time she was cleared to work again, they did everything they could to sabotage her and make up an excuse to fire her! And this wasn't just asshole coworkers, but the district manager who wanted her gone! After 16 fucking years of working her ass off and being the best employee they've ever had, does it matter to them? The only thing that mattered was that they had to pay her more, and that drove them nuts!
