Acadamy Award Nominations

Now, I think their is one thing I should point out for this years nominations. I am completely surprised and yet excited all the attention that Mad Max: Fury Road. If I didn't focus too much on reviewing animated films, I might as well do live-action reviews as well, but I would have so much to talk about, I fear I couldn't put it into words.

but I will say this, I enjoyed Mad Max: Fury Road. It is without a doubt my favorite film of 2015. Everything about it was just amazing. The visuals were amazing, the stunts were so realistic, the acting was top notch, the score was radical and beautiful (a bit ticked that it didn't get nominated for best Score though) and the sets and props and vehicles looked so fresh and interesting. The post-apacolyptic feel of the movies was so much more well handled then in most films of its type. They didn't make the whole world a heap a destroyed junk (which I don't mind in those kind of films) but the way they treated junk in the movie was like a vital part of what made every character interesting and unique, you could really tell what each person represented by what they wore and donned around their bodies, The scenes in the movie were all fast paced and had me at the edge of my seat when watching. all of it was quick and nothing felt too blurry or to fast for me to miss, the editing was nicely handled. The music in the film had this rock-n-roll/metal approach with some gorgeous orchestral parts all done by Tom Holkenborg, AKA, Junkie XL, really pushed the feel of every action scene and every moment of emotion. The actors all played their parts well, especially Tom Hardy (Bane in Dark Knight Rises), Charlize Theron (Aileen Wuornos in Monster), and Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter in the original Mad Max) credit should also be given to Nicholas Hoult for his performance of Nux as well, a pretty believable guy who suddenly switched sides realizing his sacrifices for Immortan Joe didn't mean all that much to him. and, I also have to point out that that 3-D for it was well done. it's quite rare that a film does so good in 3-D but Mad Max: Fury Road delivered in spades, its just a shame we didn't get the IMAX version till later in 2015. One more thing I should mention is its story and set up. For me, the story and its situations do feel very believable (aside from the dust tornado scene, still cool) the film to me feels very symbolic in its sort of message as to what things like this can lead to if we are not careful with how we treat the earth and I sort of like films like that, which is probably why WALLE is my favorite Pixar film.

Now I have yet to see the Revenant, which seems to be getting all the buzz at the Oscars, but I plan to see it. but heres the thing, Im gonna go into it already hearing people rave about how incredible it was, whereas Mad Max: Fury Road, while I did hear it had an incredible score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes (97 now T_T) I never heard people talking too much about it. so I went in and was completely floored by how perfect the film was. I feel like this film gave birth to a whole new generation of what Hollywood is capable of if they just open their minds to action movies like these that tell symbolic story telling, and didn't try to bust a CGIsplosion at you every 15 seconds *Cough* Michael Bay *Cough* More films need to be made like this, They can do it, they just have to put in the effort to do so. I say props to you George Millar for doing this movie. it may have been a hard long 10 plus years for it, but it was certainly worth it (even if I haven't seen the originals) Here's hoping their will be more movies from you, and Im rooting for you at the Oscars
