I didn’t know Athus well at all, but being a water dragon and a big fan of his art, I did feel a kinship with him, and I'm profoundly saddened to hear that he’s no longer with us. There are so many people I know who are directly affected by his passing, and I wish them all the strength they’ll need during this difficult time. The love that they are expressing for him is nothing short of amazing.
Let his unexpected departure be a reminder to us:
Life’s too short not to enjoy it, so make the most out of it. We have no time to be petty, or hurtful. No time to trifle in things that don’t matter. We have no time to be ashamed of ourselves. Do what matters to you, and do it with pride. Give love to everyone who will have it, and teach by example to everyone that will learn.
One day I shall return to the sea, like Athus has. I hope that when I do, my legacy too will live on in the love and fond memories of my friends, family, and anyone else whose life I’ve touched. Knowing that I’ll be a part of them for the rest of their lives makes me not afraid to die.
