Bubble Bobble: Am I reading too much into this?

(*PROBABLY UNNECESSARY SPOILER ALERT!*)

Alright, so, Bubble Bobble.  The gist of the story is that the villain (Baron Von Blubba) kidnapped the girlfriends of the two player characters, Bub and Bob.  He also turned Bub and Bob into bubble-spitting dragons.  Bub and Bob then set out to rescue their girlfriends and (presumably) return to their human selves.  The final boss of the game is called Super Drunk (being a massively large version of the basic enemy, Drunk), and turns out to be the parents of Bub and Bob, as revealed by the best possible ending you can get.

So...  What if the entire game is about the struggles of kids with alcoholic parents?  Baron Von Blubba, being the actual antagonist but never directly confronted, would be the representation of alcohol, itself, although his kidnapping of the girlfriends and transformation of the boys would likely be something actually do to the actions of their parents, under the influence of alcohol.  With Super Drunk being the last boss, it means the game ends with the boys confronting their parents about their alcoholism and getting them help (at least in the best ending).

What do you guys think?  Am I reading too much into it?

Reality of alcoholism aside, I'm liking the idea of a drunk father kidnapping his sons' girlfriends >=3
