UPDATE:I have finally obtained my Super Smash Brothers Bundle. But low and behold it wasn't from Best Buy. Good ol' gamestop came through and managed to get one in for me. That is all, happy smashing.
Ok.. So most of you probably already know this, even I know this but I went ahead and gave Best Buy the benefit of the doubt for some extra Best Buy points/credit. So around the 14th of this month I went and against my better judgement, pre-ordered Super Smash Brothers 4, the bundle for $100. Went to the stupid kioske besides the games and did what I needed to by printing out a receipt, took it to the register, it took about 10 minutes for them to figure out what the fuck to do. I let it slide cause that's normal.
Now I waited the amount of time for the game to release, arrive at Best Buy in the afternoon, went to the customer service counter. And it's right here when I see the bundle sitting in a plastic/rubber tupa-wear box thing and I think to myself. "Wow they didn't fuck up and there it is ready and waiting." Big fucking mistake. I hand them the receipt and they tell me they only got 3 in and none of them are mine... The ones present were paid in full online... Then they literally spend another five minutes trying to explain to me that, that's all they got until they get more. Wtf? Why would nintendo only send you 3 fucking bundles if you have more than 3 customers.
So it's at this time they try and explain to me, and find out if there is more feeding me bullshit about there possibly being some on a truck in pallets. Why the fuck do they not have someone go get them then? Or have them unpacked already. So I try to explain to them that, that means only online purchases were instantly recognized by Best Buy and Nintendo in order to have only sent them 3. So after voicing my frustration and asking them why do they even have a pre-order process if it isn't worth a damn?
Today I called yet again, got a guy who I saw there yesterday, tells me it still hasn't arrived and that I should call a Best Buy 45 minutes away from my location since they have 6, and on top of that he says there is a truck and they might find out later if they've arrived, so he tells me to call back at 5 o'clock. I asked him if he knew when they might be receiving my pre-order and he doesn't know anything, of course he doesn't but it didn't hurt to ask.
So I call this other best buy in hope of maybe obtaining my Smash Brothers. It was a woman and a nice one at that, I ask her if she has the game bundle. She tells me yes, but she can't sell them. Fucking obviously. But I ask her similar questions I asked the other store, tons more helpful than the idiots over here. She tells me the games get held for 7 days, even though it says 5 days till after their item arrives. She also tells me when Best Buy gets shipments which is 2 times out of the week. I tell her thank you for her time and how helpful she was clarifying things.
So long story short. Never pre-order anything special at Best Buy, the initial pre-order is time consuming cause they obviously don't deal with this stuff often, or well. Your pre-ordered item will not arrive on time, unless you purchase it online in full before hand, you will be subjected to waiting longer for your special item with worry of it never even showing up. Which I still don't know if they ever will get the bundle in, I'll update if and when I do. Depending on the employees, they won't know what they're doing, they won't give you honest information, they will continue to lead you on by telling you stuff about an imaginary truck and your possible item being on it but refusing to get someone on it to check or retrieve the item.
I still will shop at Best Buy, and they're a great store for multiple things don't get me wrong, not hating on Best Buy as a whole. But take my advice and save yourself the time when it comes to special game items. Don't Pre-order there, go to gamestop or some other game/toy mandatory store.
