Tentative launch date: 1st week of June - Needing funding

Looking at our development task list, it seems realistic to set the first week of June as our target launch date.

Yes, a whole week can be a launch date. Okay!? D: Shhh. It's getting close!

Obviously that's only if nothing hideous and major comes up in testing, but things have been pretty stable for a while now with only minor bugs to sort out.

Our major problem at the moment is we only have a very basic server with little disk space and slow processors.

When Inkbunny launches we are going to get HAMMERED. The amount of interest this site has already generated combined with the fact we allow artists to upload several hundred images at a time with bulk uploads means we need to be prepared for rapid growth.

We are going to get lots of new members using the system intensively as soon as we launch.

Things may settle down after the initial flood of new members but that may take weeks or months. We don't want to run into the same problems other sites have had on launching where the user base outgrew the server so fast the admins couldn't raise the cash and upgrade fast enough,

For at least the first three months I'd like to have two servers, one for the database (that does all the info storage and retrieval) and one for the web application (the one that does all the gruntwork of serving pages and crunching images).

This means we need to raise at least $600US in two weeks. x.x;; If anyone can assist us with this, please let us know. Inkbunny is my only job, and it's not a paying one (at least not yet!). Developing it has been my only employment for almost a year now so there's a big hole in my pocket. I really need your help! If you believe in what we are doing and can lend us a few bucks to get started, please either donate here to the user

If you know anyone that might be able to help and they are not here in Beta testing, please invite them and ask them if they can lend a hand with funding.

Thank you!

Yikes! o.o; What about Dream Host? They have a Private Server option and it's not nearly that expensive. ^_^;

They also have "virtual private servers" which is a shared server but you buy a chunk of it.

The 2nd option is unmetered so bandwidth wouldn't be an issue. I played with the bar and looks like a VPS with 2GB RAM is about $110 a month or so. I'm not sure how much RAM you need to run this site, though. o.o;

I also sniffed around and found these places that seem to have some decent prices..

I'm not sure what you need exactly, though...

Perhaps something could be offered to the 'early adopters' who donate to the cause? That may get more people to help out. ^_^

Hmm, signed up to Alertpay and chose option #2 (0.59 fee) but after I logged in it said "This seller does not accept credit card payments at the moment."

Have you considered doing an artist charity auction to raise the funds? Getting a few interested artists who are in the beta to offer something each then auctioning that on one of the furry auction houses? It might be something to think about since it's easier for some of us to do than give monetary donations.

Honestly, the thing I'd advise artists to do is seek to earn money from the site. If you make money, Inkbunny should make money, too.
