Lack of Motivation

Ah sorry folks, I'm going through a dry spell.  I dunno why, but I find it hard to start a drawing now.

Once I get started on a drawing, however, it seems easy enough to continue on it, but resuming it or starting another seems profoundly hard.

Is it possible to be burned out after so many years of drawing?  I thought I was in a rut for a while, so I tried drawing different stuff, but it helped a bit, but eventually motivation died down again.

I'm sure I am not depressed, because I still have interests in gaming and tv series and manga that I keep up.  I haven't become self-hating or dreary either.  So what is going on o.O;;

I had art blocks before, but it was never this long.  So far it has been about a month or so, not counting the two drawings I managed to barely scrape out.  (squirrel girl needing warmups, and a non-posted wolf girl in a mech)

Anyone experienced this?  Any way to get out of this?

I think it's best to fall in love with some idea - that'll keep ya goin~!

But sometimes, ya just gotta draw others things :3. If you wanna keep in the swing of things and not get rusty, yet not produce anything, go do some life sketching~! Go to a coffee shop, grab a cup o' joe, and draw what ya see! Life drawing gets you better while sorta being on autopilot.

For me, Practicing and Producing are two wildly different animals. Practicing is absolutely no pressure, while Producing has standards. Sometimes producing gets tiresome, the stresses of quality, the fear of not being good enough etc. But practicing is just silly funs that'll benefit you in the long run~! what's there to lose? :3

Other than that, I'd just veg out and be useless for a while. I usually binge games/shows (and I mean seriously binge, like, 10~+ hours a day for a week) and then I feel useless and terrible - and I get back to drawing :D

Also, might be fun to rearrange your work space? Move furniture around and get a nice new setting etc. That one's always great for the roomies and I :3

it seems moving your workplace (your desk) somewhere else in the room helps.  at least for me.  I just tried it and i felt ok to draw again.  o.o;

it helps to move to a place in the room where the view is really different.  not just another blank wall.  >_>

Nope didn't helped for me, guess i'm going to sell my wacom and just become a watcher.
To much time passed by already. Even commission other artists and art trades has not the effect i hoped to get.

Hey another thing that might help with your motivation, take some time to get some fresh and check around the environment for some inspiration, it could work I bet.

It's for similar reasons that I'm making new characters all the time.  Sometimes I move on to drawing things or characters with different settings and stuff, because the same thing for too long is tiring.  It can take a while but I eventually find myself doing the older stuff again with a slightly different approach, which is fine because it keeps me interested.

what the heck?  no one has the right to tell someone not to draw.  :|   damn im sorry you took that to heart.  if you find any joy in it, you can start any time you want.  :D

Yep, it happens to me after each and every sucessful picture :p How to get out..? I dunno, my desire for drawing comes and goes, I can't force it to stay :p Works for me..

If you want me to give my honest point of view.. I blame your lack of opening o.o Yep, that "fear" to get away from your "artistic comfort area". I've noticed it on you since some years ago.. Also, think on how many years you've been drawing similar themes. Running out of ideas or desire to make them? This had to happen in some moment <<'
I'm not telling you "Go draw crap, piss, gay, herms, become an art whore or an slave for others--", but a little change from time to time is helpful to everybody. Also changes don't need to be permanent, just enough to break with routine, and then maybe you can come back to your business normally. Look at me, I've added several themes from the outside of my comfort area, and it feels good and refreshing to use them from time to time (specially when i need money). Hope this was helpful, or at least disturbing, good luck with that :3

I recommend a good Mistress or a Sex-nun! She can "punish out/exorcise" The Lazy out of you. Both of them are good entertainment and the sworn enemy of Lack of Motivation! >:3

There are other ways, I know, but that's my receipt!  I hope one of the above works for you! :3
