My Rejuve Universe Guide Has Been Updated!

Something for 'Kayla' fans and people looking to write using the Rejuve Universe! After much procrastination, I have come to finally re-write and revamp by RU writer's guide. It was a long time coming, considering how old and outdated my original guide became. The new version should be significantly easier to read in it's current formatting, followed with more detailed information presented in bullets and points. I wouldn't mind encouraging new authors and RU writers to join the fray. It can be found at...

http://www.professor-bob.net/rejuveg.html

On a similar note, a large chunk of the next 'Kayla' tale has been written. However, I have a good few large chunks to go! It's going to be quite a story.

I also had to spend $125 on a car battery. Twisted went outside and found our's bled acid everywhere. It ate through the damn battery clamps and everything. The sulfur smell I had been noticing this past week has now been explained.

Looking pretty good - nice to see some more concrete guidelines around Penitatas so the risk of abuse or misinterpretation is lessened.  Interesting change to the psi symbol... it does make sense from a kindern's point of view - I would question how it will look if someone is a Penitatas Psycholos (I have heard of at least one example), but I think the solid "P" before "psi" is clear enough.

However, there is an inconsistency regarding Jalaxians (I swear that's a twist on the Star Trek race "Talaxians"... i.e. Neelix from Star Trek: Voyager) - according to LurkingDragon, their homeworld is not given a name, but it is specifically stated it isn't Jalaxia:

From "Melody's Adventures in Camp":

"Of course, since they were at the outer edge of Human-explored space, and the Jalaxian homeworld (NOT called Jalaxia. Do we call our world 'Hume'??) lay even farther from their temporary camp than Earth."

Aye, I took liberty with the title of the Jalaxian homeworld in this case. I know particularly little about them aside from their physical and behavioral points, but I recalled it was distinctly possible I used the planet name 'Jalaxia' in an early story. Figured I had to call it something. Also, yes, there is a Star Trek species known as Talaxians; it is indeed Neelix's race.

And I wonder if that is something else I should clarify and add in the guide. You mentioned a 'Penitatas Psychalos'. Due to the nature of classification combining, I do not practice it within the 'Kayla' spectrum of the RU. This is why Jacob did not end up with a Medicalos Innocentatas status, when I remembered another author specifically used such a designation combination (MI). As it is, the classifications are so specific in the way they identify a rejuvenated individual that I don't see a use for using more than one in a single person.

Like, a Penitatas Psychalos (P-PSI) would be a bit inappropriate, considering the point and purpose of the PSI classification. A Penitatas is a criminal, set to be both punished and reformed within the justice system. They can have a therapist or other such assistance as deemed necessary, or ordered by a court - there would be nothing wrong with that. The Psychalos classification is for an individual who has rejuvenated specifically for psychological care only, voluntarily usually or by medical order, to work on their mental issue - not like that of a prisoner (a 'penny'), or a standard Voluntarus. Alone, the two classes are distinct from each other in showing why a person was rejuvenated.

I vaguely remember the Innocentatas Medicalos classification - if I remember rightly, it was given to an Innocentatas (as something even higher than Innocentatas) partially as a bribe because she was adamantly refusing to use the rejuvenation technology for a medical reason, because her parents lost their personalities through rejuvenation and became Kinderns.

Admittedly most sources are fan fiction.  Someone else mentioned in passing a Penitatas who had two Psycholos cycles put on top of their sentence after she was gang-raped by her classmates, back in the very early days of rejuvenation.  I figured Jacob remained a Medicalos because he chose to be, and the reason that he was going to be an Innocentatas instead of a Medicalos Innocentatas is because Innocentatas is superior to Medicalos anyway (that logic doesn't quite hold for Penitatas Psycholos though!)

The dual classifications are very confusing and should certainly be the exception.

You're right about the dual classifications being used in only fan fiction. I don't recall it being used in LD's original universe style at least. When it came to Jacob, when told he was being assigned the Innocentatas classification, it would have replaced his Medicalos classification - else I too would have gone the 'MI' route. Upon holding firm that I would never dual-class, Jacob's personality type made deciding which classification he would keep very easy, with both being applicable in their own ways. Jacob remains a Medicalos, but on file with the government, his official status is Innocentatas; as it does technically supercede his original classification.

At work last night, I thought about what you said in regards to the Jalaxians. Instead of outright calling their planet something it isn't, I am going to replace it with "unknown", I think. In the case of that species, LD's guide would be better suited, due to my general lack of use of their species. I don't want to go read and copy his guide. While I make that correction, I also need to add the Karrians and Roferians to the species/worlds portion of the guide. I will also add under misc, the 'no dual-classes' bit.

Well, glad I could help.  I did wonder why the Karrians and Roferians weren't mentioned, but I figured you were still developing their backstories.

There was one mention of a dual classification in the Melody stories; after the titular character is nearly killed by a sabotaged spanking machine, there was talk at the subsequent trial that she nearly became a Medicalos Penitatas, but of course, no actual characters became such in-betweeners and I think "MP" (Hmmm... MP... Military Police or Member of Parliament?!) is the only canon dual classification touched on.  From "The Trial":

"So you almost had to give Melody an Emergency Rejuvenation. Well, I'm certain Melody is glad you didn't. I suspect she finds life as a six year old bad enough. If he HAD, Melody, you would have been a Medicalos Penitatas. Your next three years wouldn't have been quite as severe as now, but you would hardly go unspanked, either. Like a Juvenala Penitatas, you would have been sort of in between. Be glad you avoided it, young lady."

In one sense, Juvenalas Penitatas is a dual-classification of Penitatas and Kindern given its own official recognition, but that's pushing it a bit!

Glad I could help a bit.  Odd though, because I didn't really read the Melody stories deeply and I did skip quite a few stories, yet I remember little snippets.

ADDENDUM: This is just a passing idea... since the Greek letter psi has been replaced to avoid confusion, would it work to have Psycholos bearing the letter "S" (the first non-silent phonic) on their hands? Otherwise it's the only classification with multiple symbols.

I'm just trying to find a copy of Lurking Dragon's original guide... it seems to have disappeared, but there was one extra classification that existed back in the day for captured soldiers (and I think when chronostatic radiation was used as a weapon) - "W"... Prisoner of War.  Is that worth a passing mention as a decommissioned classification?'

http://spankingartwiki.animeotk.com/wiki/Rejuve_Universe - found a copy of his guide that mentions "W", and also "A" for Android Children (although that isn't actually a Rejuve classification, but just an answer to androids who have successfully climbed out of the Uncanny Valley!).

I didn't remember that part from the 'Melody' series at all - or at least correctly. I had been under the impression that a Penitatas that became a Medicalos lost their Penitatas designation entirely, placing their sentence and subsequent punishment on hold until they were the age they left off at. This would, unfortunately, prolong their childhood. In terms of structure and red tape, I see both methods working appropriately. However, with LD's method, I am given the impression it would be better represented not by a dual classification, but by a sub-designation of the Penitatas class; such as a "Blue 'P' Penitatas". If they are not truly meant to represent a Medicalos, but also don't get the same discipline as a full Penitatas, it would be more feasible to call them a Penitatas but grant them a more descriptive symbol, like the both universe's different designations for violent offenders (Broken circle vs. black 'P').

I did think about the Psychalos having three letters, while the other classes were only one. In the end, it felt like a comprimise. It ended up being an acceptable representation, while also being clear for readers and writers to use. It could be hard to associate in your head that 'S' represents Psycalos, or psi.

With the 'W' classification having been disused during Melody's time, it's even more disused during Kayla's out in the future. I've always pondered adding the POW historical reference, but whenever I thought about it, I wasn't able to ponder a scenerio where an author might have been able to use it - unless of course they wrote a story very early in the timeline, detailing life in a small POW "nursery" while they awaited transport back to their respective worlds. As for 'A',  the androids, I have been reluctant to add this one as well. I still have not come up with a concrete reason, but something about it feels out of place. Not sure!

Can't argue with that... indeed, "S" would be a confusing glyph to see - heck, even "Y" may make more sense because its sound is closer to "Psi".  But "PSI" is much easier.

The "Blue P" Penitatas is an interesting idea and is certainly better than "MP" - I can't see it being that uncommon either if, for example, a Penitatas who was once a gangster tries to kill a former accomplice (also a Penitatas) who ratted them out, say.

I love the back-stories to the Karrians and Roferians... very different to each other and yet having some common roots in places, and the Karrian history and culture makes Jacob's role as a doctor an extremely natural career choice.  I would wonder what Velius' excuse is for becoming so chaotic evil, beyond his species' war-ridden history.

I get the impression that the galaxy is largely in a state of peace and prisoners of war are virtually unheard of, with most enemies being lone terrorists or small splinter cells better suited to Penitatas status after capture - heck, even the Maquis, if it still existed, would probably get this treatment.  As for android children, being 'objects', I think their role to their owners is fairly obvious and so it's fair to not mention them too much.

Couple of spelling errors I've spotted:

"Climate is tropical in most places; very wet with think jungle." - I presume this should be 'thick'.

"Clad in suits of armor, either metal or cloth, men and women fought side by side on equal terms, using blades and polearms; arrow-like weapontry bulky and reserved for city defense." - should be 'weaponry'... I was going to point out 'defence' too, but that's a simple variation between American and British dialects.  Also, the last part after the semicolon doesn't make a proper sentence (when read by itself, this becomes apparent); putting the word 'was' between 'weaponry' and 'bulky' would fix this.

Hope I'm not being too annoying with all my dialogue and pointing things out.  Kind of glad to help though!

Not annoying in the least! When I work on the guide, I work on the HTML page itself in an HTML editor, so I lose out on the benefits of spell checking and such in order to format the page as I write. I may take a break tonight, but otherwise fixing those items will be quick and easy. I can make the alterations and upload it via FTP within a minute or two.

There are still a couple of appearances of "weapontry" lurking around, just to note.

Might you develop the 'Blue P' Penitatas one day if it fits? I think it's a good evolution of the system for what could arguably be the most common dual classification given the possible scenarios at which it could occur.

One thing that is missing from the guide is a table listing the actual hierarchy of the rejuve classifications (i.e. the one that has Innocentatas at the top with Medicalos second, and 'Black P' Penitatas at the very bottom) - granted it wouldn't be much different to the hierarchy described by LurkingDragon (I would guess Medicalos Penitatas would fall between Juvenala Penitatas and Completas) but it would make the guide complete.

The "Blue 'P' Penitatas" designation is not a bad one, but I'll give myself some time to ponder it and alternatives. The primary drawback would be a potential inconsistancy being created, between the Penitatas and Medicalos classifications. In the case of a Penitatas being rejuvenated for medical reasons, the overall outcome on their life is much different than that of an adult whom suddenly lost their life, career, and potentially more. The reason that Medicalos get their comfortable treatment is due to that upheaval of known life and norms - like that of Jacob, who had to leave Starfleet to be raised in an unfamiliar home, torn over events in his "prior life" being incomplete and leaving regrets. If a Penitatas rejuvenates, they are already young, and would return to their Penitatas parent's home with nothing out of the ordinary aside from their younger age. While a tough event occured, the end result may not warrant special classification when compared to what happens to a Medicalos. Even something such as a "Blue 'P' Penitatas" designation could end up being unfair, if a Penitatas requires emergency rejuvenation mere weeks before the end of a cycle; missing out on the opportunity for parole or soft time, if provisions were not created to protect the Penitatas.

Oh, and also missing from the guide, are punishment stools. As staple Penitatas disciplinary devices, they really ought to be detailed somewhere. A hierarchy table is also not a bad idea! This will likely be included in the next update to the guide.

As the writer of the innocentata medicalos series I can’t help but chuckle at how accurate you were on how Jenny got the rank. I love it.

Just so you know, the combo ranks are only in the fanfics but the origin is the melody series. I got the idea of the im rank from the trial in the melody series when the judge told melody if they rejuved her due to the consequences of the spankmaster they’d have to make her a medicalos pennitatas. Just a thought.

Oh for sure - I'm more of a programmer and proofreader than anything, but I do write and draw occasionally.  A programmer fox who isn't Kayla... what sorcery is this?!

Inkbunny are a little cautious when humans are involved due to the local laws where their servers are located, I think.  In other words, nothing sexual with characters who are obviously human.  I did check with an administrator when I posted my first story on here (Counter-gambit) because the character being spanked was a human girl - although there was nothing in the prose to indicate their species, it was safe to assume.  I got the all-clear though.

Given

's series often has the fox kit Kayla getting her bare bottom smacked by her human mother Emily, I think you'll be okay.  Anything explicitly sexual happens between non-human characters only.

If I recall correctly I think the only possible problem is when the parents do it implied. If implied doesn’t count the series will be good to go. I’ll start posting this week. I have to finish a final project for school. I think everyone will love the way the story has moved.

I think your stories ought to be a safe bet too. It seems more like they're mostly worried about young human characters in artwork. My last tale had a human Penitatas as well. I'll give them a read as you post them!
