Mrrr, the feeling of accomplishment! ^_^

Well, aren't I an accomplished feeling fox today ^_^  Well, technically I was feeling that way at 01:00 this morning and still am, but I digress!  I've wanted a new desk for all my audio stuff for easily a year now, and over two years for my computer in general.  The biggest obstacle has always been trying to find a way to make the two of them work together without any real issues, and ~seamlessly~.

After an incredibly large amount of research, I finally filtered things down to just one single desk: Yorkville's SD01.  But there was a problem, and a bit of a thorny one at that.  Just how would I fit all my stuff onto just one desk, PLUS have room to expand into a number of other things?  Enter in the eventual thought of adding in not one, but TWO of their SDR side racks.  On paper, we're talking something 128" wide, or almost eleven feet.  For those who live in the metric world, we're talking over THREE METERS in width alone!

The biggest part with all of it though, was simply wanting to have it actually compliment the living room, as opposed to thoroughly dominating it like the cold war era military desk I had.  Turns out I got exactly what I wanted, even if I wasn't able to actually test out the desk itself (only it's little brother, the SD02 which is something like two and a half feet narrower).

^^Quickly snapped shot of how things looked with the old setup.  Not the most terribly optimized, but it did the job for quite some time, and I was happy enough with it.  Notice how most of the music stuff was just too damn far away from the computer to be of full use.

^^Finally, this is how things looked around 01:00 or so, and I was just too damn tired to continue.  However, with everything dry fitted in their spots, I knew it wouldn't take too long in the morning to get it all plugged together and sorted out.  Why did I stop at 1am?  Well, my alarms during the weekdays go off at 05:00, so my body's sort of gotten used to going to bed around 23:00 at the latest.  Either way, was quite the promising outlook for the next day!

^^After about an hour of wiring things up and doing a tiny bit of cable management, at least to an extent where I can't easily snag my foot on any of them and it looks quasi-organized, this is how things look now.  More than likely the CoolerMaster QuickFire Stealth keyboard sandwiched between the Max49 and my MiniBrute will be going back, simply because as lovely as the Cherry MX Green switches are to type on, they're fairly stiff, plus I just can't live without my ten digit keypad.  Might even see an Ableton Push sneak it's way in there, since I seem to like the thought of it so damn much ^_^

Either way, I'm incredibly happy with my new desk, although I really need to come up with a proper name for it.  Why a name?  Well, I like to name certain things...  My computer is currently Hellsbane (next one will be JagerWulfe), and my modular is named Cerberus (with the eventually forthcoming Blacet frac rack quite possibly being named "Fenrir").  I'm sure I'll come up with a name, just sitting down and thinking of it right now actually ^_^
