Conbook Submissions Wanted!
Vancouver is a multicultural playground, bringing together peoples from many parts of the world. As part of the Pacific Rim, it – and Canada as a whole – is one piece of a great cultural landscape that we will be celebrating. VancouFur 2014’s theme is Gateway to the Pacific – and we want to celebrate that wonderful collection of cultural traditions as part of our conbook.
For the 2014 book, we are seeking stories and art that reflect the many cultures that make up the Pacific Rim. We’re looking for items that depict traditional life, multiculturalism, travel, anything that brings together the cultures that make Vancouver and the Pacific Rim such a wonderful place to live and visit. Be creative, but respectful in your work; research the countries and places you’re interested in working with, and feel free to teach us something along the way!
If you have a question about a subject you wish to work in, please contact Conbook Lead, Tony Greyfox.
We need these sent at 300 dpi for quality printing. Both colour and black and white are accepted; please note that colour submissions are likely to be printed in grayscale depending on the amount of colour pages within the book. The book will be standard 8.5x11 in size, so consider that in your art design. Smaller images are accepted as well – lots of pictures make for a great conbook!
These should be suitable for a general audience, and no more than 2000 words in length – shorter is great too. We’re looking for well-written fiction pieces, preferably with well developed plot and characters for the length of the piece. Submissions should be sent in .txt format if at all possible, allowing for ease of formatting when laid out.
Please note that all artists and authors whose works are used in the conbook will be given full credit for their works. Refer to the submission information on the VancouFur website (www.vancoufur.ca) for more information.
Our deadline is November 30. If there might be a need for an extension, please check with the conbook lead.
Please submit all art and fiction to firstname.lastname@example.org. Digital submission is vastly preferred, but if it’s not possible please e-mail for alternate arrangements.
