People thanking me

by
I get this a lot, people who commission me, who thank me for making what they paid for.  While appreciated that I performed well....

I have no response other than no, thank you for paying me to do this artwork...YOU paid for this.

so to all my commissioners, not that I dont appreciate the thank yous...but again YOU paid for it.  Rather than a thank you just say job well done, as I'm working for you, and the thank yous are all mine to you

hugs to all of yous, especially those numerous people who commission me regularly, I sincerely appreciate it, but thanking me for work you paid for?  seems inappropriate, as I always respond, no thank you for making it possible.

so hugs all

I still thank a bus driver or taxi driver for their services which I've paid for...

well if you saw last dawgrule....everyone benefits from such transactions.  the glory of capitalism.  But yeah while Ive never thanked a bus driver, I always tip cab drivers generously...and for me...i'd given commissioned art, id rather, thats awesome what you did, or really maybe some changes?  ( im totally ok with changes, and commissioners i dont want to be afraid of asking for such, its why I sent them stuff first before I post...i want them to be happy)

i see where you are coming from, but i would not feel right if i didnt thank somone for their services.
It just seems rude.

yeah, but I'd rather just know they liked it, feels weird people saying thank you, when I should be thanking them

what if they say somthing like "Thank you, i love it!"

honestly really it seems like you are a bit of a minority here. I also would like to hear that ive done  a good job, but i dont want to hand someone their artwork without them appreciating the effort i put into it.

one of my friends told me not thanking someone is like a slap to the face.  after hangin' around him enough, I started to agree.  but yeah, I know what you mean.

You apparently haven't commissioned yourself much...the thank yous are getting aren't really 'thanks for the artwork' its more 'thanks for not flaking out and ripping me off' ....that happens alot more then you'd think...or at least a few of my friends, who i won't name, have had it happen repeatedly. (i didn't ask who the offending artists were either cause i have this tendency to go on a ranting spree against anyone who hurts my friends so, which would have only further embarrassed them so...yeah)

I get your point, but I'd rather know they were happy with what I did... not thank you for not ripping me off, lol

People get more than goods, or physical goods, you know. Yes, you get paid, so for you - this is a trade. For the people receiving the art from you, they are most likely going to be emotionally attached. They're happy. They can look at something they enjoy, they probably longed for this for a while. They're going to want to smile at you, show you gratitude that extends beyond the simple trade deal. It means more to them, than to you.

I can understand that.    like the last dawgrule, I guess its not a zero sum game.  We both get things we value from it. XD

I know whenever I get something commissioned, I say both. I say Thank You and that they did a great job on it. But I say Thank you for offering those services and creating for me something that looks truly amazing. It's the same thing when shopping at a grocery store. We're giving money to people who are being paid to ring stuff up for us when we go through a checkout line. But at the same time, we still thank them, and they thank us in return. We thank them for offering the product, they thank us for the money we provide the company. That's my views on it.
