Goodbye Sam and Sarah May You Both Rest In Peace

by
May you both Rest In Peace in Cat Free Birdy Heaven. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you both when you got attacked and..... killed :(  I have reprimanded my friend for not making sure a cat wasn't in my room before leaving it. I hope you both can forgive me :( I will remember you both always pecks and all.

*hugs* Don't go too hard on your friend, ok? He probably feels bad about what happened.

May your babies have many new adventures in heaven.

Feather-wise One was a blue parakeet the other had green and yellow feathers. They both were the same gender Im assuming because no eggs were ever made

you had both genders.... they just weren't ready for mating yet.  either way, sorry for your loss on the birds.  I used to have parakeets, so I know a bit of them

I see... *Hugs* Thanks      Can you tell me what the typical age would be for parakeets to mate? Or is it these two just werent ready??

I can't remember off hand, but there are many guides online.  my late grandmother had a hetero pair and one day I found on lying dead in the cage.  I later found out that sometimes, females will kill males who approach them before being ready to mate.  they are very small and some only live for a short time from what I've seen with others who had the birds.  five years at most, but I think it's all in how you take care of them

Similar story of what happened to my birds. Was able to break up the fight, but one on them lost a toe and part of the cage was stained with blood.

Ouch, sorry to hear that, and hope you give your moron friend a good smack upside the head for the negligence. Still, try not to hold it against your friend to much, as Ainoko says, I'm sure they're feeling pretty bad about it already.

That is a big loss.

They are in a good place now. Surely they are flying in a big blue sky... totally free

*Snugs* You'll be okay...and when you find a cute, downy feather on the ground, just sitting there, it's from them n__n
