MLP as a muse

by
Anybody ever take a look at some MLP artists' galleries and notice how very little the seemed to make before MLP came along?  This could be taken as a bad thing if you don't like My Little Pony, but the way I look at it as far as the mood of the individual pieces go, it's like night and day. For example I've noticed some MLP artists doing monsters, dragons, goth stuff, muscular creatures, and scarey looking things. Then MLP came out and all of a sudden, it's a pony pussy party ^__^ With smiles and crazy poses, and bright colors all over the place. Some artists probably built their entire career off of MLP, their whole fan base.

I've never seen one show be responsible for so much art before. It's like somebody took a gasoline engine and made it run on rocket fuel XD  I admire artists that make a lot of art. Not just 1 good picture every month, but more like every single day. If MLP is what drives you, I say, ride that sucker for all it's worth ^^ have fun, have a blast.

I like MLP too. Not at the same level as most, but the characters are very cute and likable. It just makes my jaw drop seeing angsty, muscular, monster art at the beginning, then pretty, pastel, smiley ponies next. Yep, I consider it a good thing.

I'm ok with people that has original characters, but not when it's their primary fursona. My fav character is Twilight Sparkle but I don't have her as my fursona ^_^

I use to like MLP and was pretty active in the fandom, but my enthusiasm died after a while. I have a large folder (both on my computer and irl) filed with artwork.

I don't mind when people draw MLP work so as long as they mix it up a little; it gets rather boring seeing the same rainbow colored equines over and over again. I can only think of a few artists that can draw them to god like levels, most just range from good to awful. I think it's just because most tend to just draw r34 and neglect their fundamentals (which is pretty important if you want to make impressive artwork).

Those are just my two pennies.

There are artists around here who've based their entire "careers" and fanbases of TMNT as well. Some toons just have that kind of impact on specific types of people.
And the transformations you noted are interesting indeed. Maybe the saving powers of Friendship have been underestimated after all...

hahaha i too have noticed this and i too am ok with it, art is a beautiful thing no matter what inspires you. i've been drawing for about... 11 years now and what started it off for me was yu-gi-oh hahaha being in primary school trading cards and dueling... it was awesome, then i noticed how some of the monsters were obviously drawn (being a child this blew my mind) and i sat down and started doodling my own monsters, and i just kept going from one fandom to another until, well, here i am! lol

Never seen the show myself and kinda scared to waste the time to track it down.  I would much rather see the new Warner Brothers show be the muse that starts the artistic boom.

I know what you mean there. It would be amazing to see so many people embracing the Looney Tunes Show or even Tiny Toons. Then again, I've seen some truly horrible art of TTA ^^; But I think there's better artists out there to handle it now XD
