An extremely important PSA for everyone...

by
As you all know, I lost my partner on 7/20/12 when he died at our home. Since then many of us has lost lost loved ones, both here on FA and in RL, however it is a safe bet that no one has thought of something this important should the unfortunate happen to them. I am guessing that a good 40-50% of those who have passed had a will and even then it was most likely not current. After over a year of fruitlessly searching for my partner's will, I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that he never had one at all. And that has got me working on my own will as we speak. I would like to see everyone who is watching me create a will and place it somewhere that those close to you will be able to find (lawyer, safe deposit box, computer, etc), that will dictate who gets what you owned, or what to do with your Earthly possessions after you die.

I am currently trying to figure out how to use my webcam so that I can create a video will in addition to my written will. I am doing this so that I can protect my future husband should I die in the near future, not to mention after we are married and possibly adopted children. This is a very important piece of paper that EVERYONE should have as it dictates who gets what you own at the time of your death. For more information about how to go about creating a will, check your local churches, lawyers, or CPA, if unable to, check these links...

Once again, please, I beg of you, create a will to protect your estate, family, children, etc. If you don't, you will be hurting those you love very much.

Thanks for the info on this.  I hate that stuff like this is never in our minds until something bad happens.  Just human nature, I suppose.

This PSA hits close to home.  Its also important to set a primary benefactor for your life insurance as well.  I have seen 2 friends of mine both make the mistake of neglecting this important piece of information from their insurance company when both died in the same automobile accident.  Do not neglect love ones because its "extra work". They don't deserve to have to pay most of your early possessions to get a few, even IF you leave a proper will.  Burials are expensive.
