Well hun tried teaching me a little how to drive

..In what we thought was a abandoned  space, it was going okay and i was being snail slow while turning this and that turn while i practiced

Then a car was turning into a section, and i was kinda half in the way, and cringing like hell and finally reversed  so it could go through ( i swear i probably got looks x'3) i was practicing in empty space, when a car came + first time you can guess how i felt, pretty scared and terrified id stupidly run into it, but hun eased me,

Practice continued and i drove around the back of the place, and we ran into a more completely abandoned space,   so i drove around that for a little, getting abit faster as i  kept practicing the looparound circular  motion, and i felt a little more at ease, as i kept looping around, then he demonstrated parallel parking with invisible cars * we used the parkinglot lines as the car back/ front of the other cars*

Then we went home *he drove because i had -3456782931873 trust in myself on driving home XD, and im pretty sure he saw that too*

he says i did good and i guess i felt i did partly goodish x'3

i felt less stupid, yet still as stupid as i did when i drove a non moving car  of my dads friend as a favor since they pushed it they felt they trusted me,

and then i drove it into a fence, *thankfully softly* not enough to knock it down >w<;

In other better news ill be back to drawing in a few days x3

"You have seen something terrifying, there is no escape X'3"

here is some valuable life advice...

DO IT ANYWAYS O_O
seriously. if you dont, one day youll end up in a situation where you get so sick and tired of being imobile (or limited to stupid shit like busses, trains and taxis) that youd be screaming at god to just give you a fucking car.

i got over my fear of being behind the wheel cause of this, im just so bloody frustrated with being limited to what i can do and when and where i can go.

all i can do is try, he says for firsttiming some parts of things i wasnt too bad, which made me feel better heh

well with my fear on driving and low mood, im at rock bottom starting level, all i can do is get better and go up x3 heh...

Are car drivers in the US that bad? I find confidence and safety in the rules every driver has to be obey, especially those regarding right of way. It's best to be calm about driving and have an instructor which can keep you calm and concentrated, too. And, just as importantly, you should have an instructor telling you what's right to do and what's not - this will help take away the fear of doing mistakes.

/I/ am, THEY arent. XD i didnt mean they were bad so much as im scared of doing things wrong

i felt partly better after he said theyll avoid me as much as i want to avoid them, a little more at ease x'3

still happy i didnt blow up his car  /always low self esteem

I think that a very important part of learning how to drive is practice, really, especially with stick shift cars. Learning the theory is only the foundation for driving, but the actual skills, like perfecting control over your vehicle, overtaking, switching lanes, turning, parking and many other things - those require hands-on experience to learn.

On my first driving lesson, I got to drive home at the end of the day with slight help from my instructor. And two days ago, during another driver's ed lesson, my very first attempt at parking in reverse was on a mall's parking lot. I parked that thing right between two real cars and didn't bump into anything. And, in fact, I was amazed at how simple parking in reverse is when you know the right technique and got enough clutch skills to slowly drive in reverse. If you got an experienced and knowledged instructor who you can trust and who knows where you need to improve, learning how to drive is much easier and you feel safer, too. For reference, this probably went so well because we practiced gentle driving using the clutch pedal that lesson and the one before.

First time I drove, it was in an empty parking lot.  I got the car stuck on a sheet of ice.  But I managed to unstick it all by myself!  :D

Yeah... learning to drive in winter.  That was fun.

And good luck with your drivelearning!  :D  If I still lived on the east coast, I'd offer to drive down sometime and let you try my car.  PRIUSES ARE FUN.  Plus, I like to think I'm an ok teacher.  If I can teach pre-calculus (while taking the course), surely I can teach driving, right?  XP

Took me a while to get the hang of driving - but fortunately for me, I was taught how to operate a stick shift as soon as I was old enough to reach the pedals AND see over the steering wheel, so it was a lot easier for me.

Just be patient with yourself and you'll be perfectly fine.  I'd suggest going to a driving school - it's well worth it.

I feel you, I get anxiety while parking! Not even the driving part! lol

The best I can tell you is just breathe, and don't have any distractions on. No phone, no radio, no nothings! :)

Good luck! I'm still trying to get Mav to learn to drive one of these days~

Sister taught me at first since my mother would never climb into a car again to teach someone after my older brother.

My problem was I wanted to drive and go go go.  Did awesome gaguing turns and gas in an empty lot even a little back alley.

The break was my problem.....  Never knew you were supposed to step on that softly.  Spent several times trying to learn not to step on the pedal so hard.  Seatbelts are a good idea they keep your head from meeting the steering wheel.

If you would've driven manual, doing that would also have been a surefire way to kill your engine - after all, unless you push the clutch lever, it's connected right to your wheels, and that's what the brakes brake. :D

I never learned stick.  My sister started to by burning up my older brothers clutch.  Let's just say I have never even been given an opportunity to even try to drive one.  No one I know owns one.

I got my license when I was 19. When I started out I was a nervous driver too. While practice driving one time I even had to pull over and have mother take the wheel.

I (used to be) prone to seizures.  Although i've only had a couple close together while sick, I have been 'blacklisted' from driving in a number of states.  In many, I cannot obtain a license.  In a few, it's a criminal act just to get behind the wheel period!

I taught my beloved how to drive, and now she is driving like a pro.  It took her 15 months to get it right, but once she got it and finally got used to highway, the rest is history.
