A question of Transformations

So, when you see transformation sequences, whether in stories or pictures, how do you tend to like them?

Slow or fast? Even transition or patchy? Painful, disturbing, pleasant, or just odd? Reversible, permanent, or conditional? Species, material, gender, or other sorts of transformation?

Personally, I was a great fan of the Animorphs stories. The non-painful but highly disturbing transformations, the ticking clock of the 2 hour limit, the uncertain changes and the variety of powers. I've made a high number of Transmuter wizards and Druids in my RPG career. I also did that one transformation assassination story. Of the stories I've read I always liked the awkwardness and strangeness of a new form.

I contrast, I'm not a fan of werewolves or the like. I don't like short sequences either. I hate it when there is just a 'transform' pic with nothing for context or story.

How about you? I just wan to know in general.

What about if I offered some stories or pics?

I'm not too picky, but I'd take up your pic offer.

Depends on the setting, Werewolf=slow and painful, Vampire(to bat)=fast and with a puff of smoke, furry flap art=slow and orgasmic, Hulk=angry,  and so on.
