Well, since knowledge is power, I feel like as much as possible is being held from us, and we are being distracted from the truth with meaningless drabble. Seek and you shall find, but I agree on the process of de-evolution. Instead of moving forward, or even trying to do so, we keep stepping backwards, its frustrating isn't it?

Now up here in Canada, that baby might be my king one day, so it's kinda important. But why the heck is it making the front pages in America? They're not your monarchy. You fought a revolution to oust them from your shores. If the king of some other country had an heir born, you wouldn't even hear about it. Why does a British royal baby rate more than a passing mention?

I also am not fascinated with such celebrity nonsense.
I've been told that because our national news is so New England-based, and because New England culture is itself so Anglophiliac, that any shtuff that concerns Britain/England/The Royal Family is instantly made national news in America, only because it's deemed so important to the people who live and work in New England and NYC esp.
Kind of like anything that involves the Kennedy family. Did we need a solid month of wall-to-wall coverage of the death of JFK Jr? No. Then why'd we get it all? Because New England.

Polish news TV cancelled a popular daily satirical news summary programme only because this was apparently such a huge event and they were so excited about it... WTF... It's not even happening over here... And it's just... a birth... And this all looked like some reality show... ><

Whilst we're not beholden to the Royal Throne (*flush*), the Crown does represent and set the tone of relations between our biggest political and trading partners, so it is of some interest...

Besides, this is one distraction we do need, particularly with the recent tragedy of a plane accident, and the ongoing travesty of the know-nothing, do-nothing Republicans, who think they're doing America a lot of good by screwing every American repeatedly, over and over again.

Right now, we need some good news.... A Royal baby will do in a pinch. :)

I find it kind of weird that it's such a giant deal in America while here in England it's just a sort of "In other news, Kate is pregnant" at the end of the news, and then not really mentioned again for a week

WE don't care about it, why is everyone else going nuts over it?

Though they did change the Laws of Royal Succession over it, so that was interesting. Even though it ended up being irrelevant anyway :P
