What's your inspiration?

by
I love when I'm able to capture the true essence of a character.  One of the best motivators to me is music.  When it comes to fan art,  I'm usually listening to some sort of music track related to that character while I'm drawing.  I think music plays a big part in my art creation.  Hell if I wasn't an artist, I'd probably be a musician. XD  Particularly, I like a lot of video game music.  You might not believe it, but for some pictures/comics, I do actually act it out alone to make sure what I'm trying to convey is believable.  It's all in good fun. :D  So... What's your inspiration for your hobby?

Quite simply, Inkbunny is my main source of inspiration!

Honestly, if I didn't have a place to showcase my art and people to enjoy it, I wouldn't be drawing. Some of my pictures stem from a random idea that pops into my head, but I'd say the vast majority of it is because I think people on here would like seeing it - be it cute or naughty.

Not just as an inspiration to draw, but also as a huge source of motivation to improve. Knowing that people like what I draw has really gotten me to want to get better - which is effectively a neverending goal.

Interesting!  There is plenty of art here to get the mind pumping full of ideas.  I know the feeling.  In truth, everyone wants to feel appreciated in some form or fashion, especially artists.  It's very critical that we get some form of encouragement, otherwise we won't continue to draw.  That's good to hear!  It's nice to set goals and see yourself improve along the way.  Very rewarding. :)  What good is having a great idea if you can't share it with others? ;)

Well, I'm a writer and my stories are mostly inspired by games (who would've guessed xD)
I started writing some years ago for a contest on a german pokemon forum and just for ib and fa, I started to write in english to

Awesome!  Writing is just as important as the drawing itself.  Without direction and an understandable story, sometimes the art can be lost  in it's own world, so I understand the importance of what writers have to offer. :)

Sadly, I haven't been that productive lately...I'm one of the perfectionists who are always dissatisfied with their work so I'm starting many things, but hardly finish anything...
Music is a great inspiration, however...good Music always creates images in my head and then I try to produce text from these images, but it's not easy

I don't know where mine comes from, but I tend to feed off of other's ideas.  I guess when I see someone else's idea, I sometimes find myself able to use that idea to share my own thoughts.

That's okay too.  We all have to start from somewhere.  Chances are, everyone has learned from someone else some way or another.  What I'm learning now is that nothing  is truly original.  Use what you learned and make it your own. ;)

Nice!  We are always learning from each other.  That's how we are able to create something truly amazing. :)

That's a pretty good question, I suppose anything that I enjoy or anything that makes me happy and causes my mind to open up and be myself when I draw. I just can't draw when im not my happy self, it's like I just temporarly forget or see it as a dreaded chore when im in a negative mindstate. Its funny because last night I learned simply having the computer off, living in the moment and being distraction-free causes me to entertain myself, I wrote a poem and some other things that seemed dreaded with the computer on but it was a piece of cake when it was just me, pen and paper :p Streaming is also motivating because you have friends you like encouraging you simply by just watching you

I know the feeling.  It's hard to have fun when you're in a bad mood.  Everyone has there own way of dealing with negative energy.  I just use the bad experiences I've had and try to make light of them through art.  Yes.  I think everyone should learn to step away from the computer for awhile.  It's surprising how much clear your mind will be.  I can see how streaming would be motivating.  Good stuff!

No complaints here.  Music is a fine inspirational motivator.  :)

Music plays a huge role for me, any kind of music will do but mostly stuff like System If A Down, or random silly/fun songs, depending on the mood of the picture, considering I am a muscian (violin/piano/bass for over 14 years) I really draw better when zoning out to songs where you can feel the band/singer/composer had fun doing it.

Other than that, reading or watching anime, silly I know but while watching anime or readig manga I get great inspiration to try and draw, I guess it is just conditioning from my old days in junior high and high school when me and feiends would put on an anime and just draw or we would sit around and read and draw lol.

One last thing that inspires me, my friend Rey, he is the one who pushes me to try new things with out him I would have never tried drawing a lolicon Annie from league of legends, or a Mobian Medley, or even a group picture of all my characters, having him around hawk watching over me drives me to aspire for greatness, I guess it is because I can show it off and show him how good I can get.

But alas my talents are sqaundered on just drawing cute, I cannot draw a serious to save my life lol.

I think music is a very important asset that can be used to further immerse ourselves in our own imagination.  You've been dealing with musical instruments for a long time now.  That's awesome!  I wish I played a musical instrument in my childhood.  Anime and Manga, huh?  Well if those two are silly then video games would be just as silly if not sillier!.  Nah, it's not silly.  It's just fine.  All those different types of media tell their own story in a different way.  Yes.  It's nice to get inspiration from others.  I would say it's almost impossible not to.  We're all on the same planet together.  The least we can do is learn from each other. ;)

It seems music and others are a number one motivator for people to draw or write, and yes playing intruments had a huge impact on me, its what made me want to listen to a little of everything instead of one genre :)

And yes games are also a means of inspiration for me as well, when I watch my brothers or fiance play games I can't help but doodle in my spiral behind them as I watch the story behind the game unfold :)

Thanks for this journal by the way, it was very nice to see how people get their motivation and see that we are more alike than we thought in our preferences on how we get inspired, it is nice to see a community get together, and talk about something nice for a change :)

No problem!  I enjoy seeing the similarities we all share as well.  That's what a community should be all about, right?  Sharing experiences in my opinion.  It certainly doesn't have to always be negative.  If it is negative, why focus on only that.  We should try turning it into learning experience.

It is always better to see the good and what you can learn from something :D

Maaaaaaaaaaaan, do we have ALOT in common, babe! XD Music is also my inspiration behind practically all my artwork! :D Whenever I'm drawing, I have to listen to music, rather it's video game music or music from the radio. :)
I agree with the acting out part, too. :3 My brothers and I tend to RP alot. Most of the odd pairings and OOC personalities of almost all canon characters is where the rest of my inspiration comes from. XP

Of course we do!  Music is key.  How else are we going to get the ideas flowing? :D  Awesome.  Suprisingly enough, I've never really been that big on RPing with people.  I did find myself doing that with some 3DS friends on Swapnote and when I used to go on Iscribble a lot.  I understand it can be very entertaining.

*completely random* You changed your avatar again, I see. ;D
Same here about RPing with other people. I've never RPed with anyone outside of my brothers (and sometimes, my sisters). It can be entertaining depending on who you're RPing with, and what the topic of the RP is about. :)

I like to changed it up every now and then. It's one of my original characters.  :)  RPing sounds like fun when you got the right person and topic.

thank the heavens that someone else besides me enjoys video games music... too bad my co-workes are driven insane by it.

when I wrote the Mario Project, the emphasys on that was to take things on a level that the game itself won't go, and then bring that level to the people.  in light of my attempting to make it more like hentai, it has a lot of that 90's slapstick from when cartoons were actually awesome to see unlike the lackluster stuff of today.  pressing issues that no one dares press is what makes things interesting.  art-wiswe, I find inspiration in the pieces of others and try to give characters "common-day life".  other than that, I want to make things look cool or interesting like I did with this piece-->

I get where you are coming from.  It's hard to find people who accept those interests that are sort of abnormal.  I'm not say it's the only music to listen too, but sometimes I feel more work goes into video game soundtracks than the mainstream music out here these days.

I applaud you for trying to push the limits.  I'm a 90's kinda guy.  I like subtle adult humor.  I think that's a lot more clever than just throwing something together.  A little randomness doesn't hurt either. :D  I never got the chance, but I'll have to check out the Mario Project in it's entirety.  I checked out the picture you linked.  Simple yet interesting with the tiny Kirbys. :)

thanks for the Mario Project support, dude.  I think you'll like some of the surprises in store in the next episode.  and of course, you know that the finished episodes are on PAL, so feel free to give them a look when you have a chance

My inspiration comes when I see images in Inkbunny or listening to music when I writing my stories.

There are definitely plenty of inspirational artists here.  You can learn more from others than yourself.  Yep.  There's nothing like typing a good story when fueled with the inspirational power of music. :)

As corny as it sounds my inspiration tends to come most from my friends, They tend to give me ideas and get me interested in certain other hobbies

Haha!  Nothing wrong with that.  We all are learning from each other in some way when it's all said and done.  It's great to get out of your comfort zone when you can.
