Really a curious story and a sad ending, a bit of reflection on life. and Hey good to hear you didn't have to step on the hospital, those people are just looking for money >:(

Fortunately I have pretty good health insurance where I work... unfortunately, I might still end up having to have surgery. There is a chance that the actual joint is infected and oral antibiotics might not cut it. But, at least the infection has not gone systemic and is contained in my paw right now. Even with Vicodin (or Percocet when it is really bad) there is still constant pain and severely reduced functionality.

I see my doctor again monday and we'll go from there. I expect I'll end up at a hand specialist after that appointment.
