Big Parade

Today is the day of the big Pride Parade in Toronto. I kinda wanted to go see it, even though I'm not really comfortable in crowds, but I slept in. So instead here's a big, little parade that I found.

...and while I'm writing about Pride Parades, next year Toronto is hosting World Pride. Now I know somebody who'd shake his head at me saying this, but I think it would be pretty cool if there was a furry presence in next year's parade. Local furries have marched in it before, although they weren't in fursuit, (unless you count body paint... and some of us do.) We haven't been in it recently, though.

I'd like to hear opinions about this. Is it even a good idea? Would it mis-represent straight furries or the fandom in general? (That was my concern.) What kind of entry would we be able to present? Fursuits? Walking art display? Marching or a float? Placard with a big QR code linking to a website with more info about our entry? How would we organize it? Who'd be in charge? How would we pay for it? Tell me what you think.

you bring up some interesting and valid points there,  i say take your cue from the local politicians, (radical, i know) but they don't usually miss an opportunity   to participate,  and not all of them are out or even swing that way. So that being a given, it might not be a bad idea. I'd suggest you put feelers out to the world pride folks  and see what they require to participate and go from there.

I'm not too worried about World Pride bureaucracy. There'll be forms no doubt; whoever is in charge of our entry can fill them out. What I'm concerned about is who would organize our entry, who'd want to be part of it, what we'd actually do, where the money would come from and so on. I did ask around the local furries; I haven't heard from anybody yet, so maybe there's no interest.

Fursuits?  In summer heat? :o

That is a point, it's usually pretty hot out on Pride Sunday. The locals do fursuit walks in all weathers, though. As long as there are handlers with water and watchers at points who can take care of fursuit marchers who get overheated, it should be okay. Better yet, if we have a float, nobody would have to march.
