don't worry, lots of customization options to get rid of all the annoying "features" while keeping the speed of the OS. just need to get a couple programs like start8

The new interface should have stayed with the tablets.

da hell with windows 8. I got a new laptop with it on there, and the first thing I did is format the drive, and install win 7 pro + xp mode :p

P.S. for those that say "don't knock it before you try it" I had both the preview, and bought it when they had the $15 special so I DID try it :D

P.S.S I HATE UEFI bioses.

P.S.S.S for those saying get classic shell to get the button back next come up with a way to fix the compatability issues ^^

That's what I did with my new laptop, only it was Win 7 Ultimate.

Win 8 kept screwing things up on the laptop...

never thought of ultimate myself, but then again I don't think I'd use the extra features. of course the only thing I even use windows for these days is to play games that don't run well on parallels in mac.

it has the ability to go touch screen better than 7 so you could use it for that

Agreed. I will be giving 8 a miss, just as I did for Vista.

It certainly seems to be true what they say, every other version of Windows sucks.

Why? I luckily got warned not to downgrade to windows 8

I think you summed up Windows 8 in a nutshell - almost all the useful parts removed, replaced with a terrible ripoff of Android 4 as a UI.

I swear, Microsoft must be deliberately trying to destroy themselves with their pompous, arrogant, 'we're god so you're gonna have to deal with it' attitude.  It got really bad when they introduced Vista and it's just been becoming more and more overt.  Not surprisingly, a majority of big businesses still use Windows XP and don't have any plans to upgrade for quite awhile.

I wish you all the joy with the new hardware! Don't have any experience about Win 8, but I hear from everyone, that it's terrible. Still using a heavily modified XP here. Why? Because there's no reason to change a good and hard working SLAVE down to a uncontrollable one! >:3

I haven't run into any major issues with Windows 8, but to each, their own.

Of course it blows. The fundamental concept of taking the minimalist user interphase from phones and applying it to larger computers is completely backwards. Better technology is supposed to have more features, not fewer.
