tablet woes

by
looks like my tablet decided to become more or less unusable, I guess my roll of good cheer had to balance out sometime

my trusty bamboo has lasted since january 2011, my first foray into digital art, and I've never been better at it, so I'm satisfied with its life

I'll have to deposit some money so that I can order another one, so I should be able to get back to drawing by the middle of next week, and I'll pretty much be broke afterward

I have a Wacom ET-0405-U that I retired when I got my Bamboo, I'd be glad to send it to a good home if you could use it.  Can't blame you if you'd rather hold out for a newer model or larger size.

appreciated, but I've grown far too spoiled on the buttons that the bamboo offers in a huge convenience

they seem to have gotten cheaper too since getting the black one I have, gonna end up paying $30 less

My Huion works okay :V Though it's rather basic in functionality. Only cost me $45 too, free shipping.

I think you can get them on Amazon for about that price.

I find it odd that you ask me to look it up when I own one. A lot of the negative reviews on Amazon tend to be about DOA hardware which is unfortunate, but that's what RMA is for. I've found it isn't compatible with GIMP and I actually had to hack Paint Tool SAI to get it to work properly, though reportedly the Beta versions of SAI have fixed the issue.

It has quirks, though the aforementioned incompatibilities actually appear to be the fault of the software itself and not the tablet drivers. The hardware in it is designed and probably manufactured by UC-Logic, Monoprice tablets use the same technology and the pens are even interchangeable. I haven't had any problems with sensitivity or whatever. I do speculate that some issues people have are caused by not having enough power supplied to the tablet because they're overloading their USB ports.

Basically I'm pretty happy with it, and if nothing else it makes for a good backup tablet.

Which Bamboo model do you currently use/ are looking to upgrade to?

already bought it, was using a 460 but bought a 470

I considered getting the new slightly larger model but I've grown accustomed to the way I hold the tablet and how I use the buttons, wouldn't be comfortable
