Looks like a new Sonic cartoon titled "Sonic Boom" is on the works, by the same writer of MLP FIM, we'll have to wait and see...

I'm glad that there is gonna be a new sonic show. It's been a VERY LONG time since Sonic X. I hope it would be like Sonic X. I LOVE Sonic X so much. Hopefully, maybe a sonamy moment in it. =)

You know you could like... idk not watch them? Though I agree with you I'm not as much of a fan of Sonic's cartoons as I did when I was young and I always liked the games more, Sonic is an iconic cartoon and comic books character no doubt and there are fans out there who would be interested.
That said I have a bad feeling it'll turn out like Teen Titans Go or at least as bad as the new Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.

I think it's a good initiative. I mean, if a series for girls as MLP has become a success thanks to the good work of the designers and writers, I think with Sonic could do an excellent job. Yes, this series means losing certain "maturity" in the franchise, but the Sonic franchise has already become quite childish with their latest games. Hahaha. Just look at the design of the Deadly Six. They are entirely Cartoon.
Nor can we expect from Sonic series is based on the stories of the games. A series of Sonic should be independent of the games in that aspect and just focusing on using the characters of the franchise. Nothing to invent new characters, much less a new Chris, that would be disastrous. Beyond that, a series of Sonic with MLP style seems like a good idea.

And that's something I really don't like in modern Sonic games, the main difference between Sonic and Mario isn't the speed, it was never the speed but it's the edginess Sonic has, now he's not as cool and the characters and plots are more childish and silly, it's just another Mario clone.
That said I agree that aside from Sonic OVA none of the Sonic cartoons were decent, neither did Mario, even the anime was bad, and Mega Man only had a good 3 episodes OVA but not the anime or cartoon, imo the best Sonic cartoon was SatAM, and I don't even like Archie characters but the writing I must say was best there, so I guess a show based on the main characters from the games, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, can be something interesting, it won't be cool like Sonic X tried to be (I liked the last season of Sonic X, Chris was useful for once though Cosmo wasn't) but it'll be more like Teen Titans Go, childish and silly like the old Looney Tunes shows, which isn't bad for a Sonic cartoon, it'll be a simpler version of AOSTH.

Sonic X is not perfect, but if you've seen the original Japanese version, you will find not so childish. 4Kids did much damage to that series.

In any case, look at it this way. Japanese animation has always involved Sonic with humans, while American animation is quite the opposite. Nor can order a very complicated script for a series that is aimed at children. Now, whether you don't like MLP, you have to recognize that their scripts, in their innocence, some are interesting and fun. The idea is to create a series that is enjoyable for all ages. The secret is to handle the characters well.

Heh I never hated humans in Sonic, heck Eggman is human himself, it's just Chris was forced on a series that should of been about Sonic, as for the American cartoons well AOSTH had humans too, both SatAM and SU didn't focus on humans much but the later suffered from cheesy plots and forced musical segments with bad lyrics, I think Sonic OVA handled it best, while it had humans in it they were given small rules like in the games, though I personally prefer the president from the games than the one from the OVA!

In part you are right, but the Sonic OVA is old and only has basic characters. Me neither humans annoy me in Sonic, but I would like them to use a Mobian world, similar to Sonic X, which by the way got very little attention.
Anyway, I think for a new series of Sonic, they must restart the story. They must create a completely new story, because Sonic games have a very confusing continuity. In fact, sometimes I think that Sonic games have no continuity.

I don't mind humans in Sonic to be honest but they must be handled correctly like Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Chronicles where they had both humans and animals living together rather than just humans.
I kinda agree with you here that Sonic games just don't seem to have continuity in the most cases, in fact the only time Sonic Adventure 2 referred to Sonic Adventure 1 in plot was when Eggman mentioned Tails saving Station Square, which wasn't even a part of the game to begin with, it's one of the reasons why the fan movie sucked because it tried to create a continuity from a game series that has no continuity, the OVA and Sonic X did that well for the most part creating new worlds for Sonic with the OVA making them on Planet Freedom, I really hate Mobius, Kintobor, and all of the stupid American inventions here, so I hope we stick with the original designs, they don't even need to mention any planets or universes.

I see no problem in creating a new world and not necessarily be called Mobius. This is a personal opinion. I created my own Mobius and is completely oblivious to the games, although it has some similarities, like the story of the ancestors of Knuckles.

SatAM had a decent story, it's the unnecessary added characters that ruined it for me, as for Mobius it's not that I hate the name or anything but being an Asian I always felt more attached to the "cool 'n edgy" Japanese Sonic rather than the "I'm gonna say pathetic" American one who's only role is to try and get Sally to notice him, SEGA of Japan hated that Sonic for a reason and it's the same reason I hate him, he's just not as cool, not to mention that the "dolphin" spikes design is just ugly.
