Choosing a name for my character. :v

by
I'm trying to find a name for this character:
https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=105614
and https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=106134

Anyone have any suggestions?
Here are a few names I was able to pick out so far:

Audrey
Good name... so much so, I might want to hold on to this name for a different character.
(that's the problem with choosing a name.. I need to avoid naming my characters in a way where I might want to switch the names around later.)

Olivia
good name but its meaning is... Elf Army?!

Mia
"of the sea or bitter" what does that even mean..

Jasmine
Good name, but will make people think of princess jasmine from alladin.

Lilah
Good name if pronounced "LIE-lah" not "LEE-lah".

Natasha
Good name.. mixed feelings on the reference to christianity.

Pearl
Highly fitting, but I just thought of another character of mine that is probably more fitting of the name Pearl.

Padme
Good if not for the fact Star Wars used it.

So I guess the strongest contenders are:
Mia
Lilah
Pearl
maybe Olivia or Padme

The name will apply to both the human and furry versions of this character.
There are other minor details I also need to decide on, such as the situation with her parents, assuming she even has any, or w/e the situation is there.

What do we know about her?
How do you write her? aggressive, shy, wordy, silent?
Konda

Very shy and introverted.
Konda

She is a schoolgirl who gets whisked off into arabian territory. (that or she's on field trip or vacation there, and gets captured)

Let me know what else I could be elaborating on, to help find the perfect name.

Tabatha

Ayala
Hebrew origin, means "deer or gazelle"
I might prefer Ayla, which is a variant with the same meaning.
I like that it means deer/gazelle even though I had other deer characters, and logically would have applied equally well to all of them. Besides, my other deer characters already have names.

Ceren
No origin or meaning.
I might like Serena. But maybe for a different character.
Assuming Ceren is pronounced "SEH-ren" I might like it.

Elain
Elaine is a character from Seinfeld.
But this gives me an idea. "Ellen" might be a good name. It means sun, ray, shining light.

Maral
No origin or meaning.
Sounds masculine, unless pronounced Maryl or Meryl.

Tabatha
Odd sounding name.
Means "gazelle".

Tabby
Not a flattering sounding name.
It is a variant of Tabitha/Tabatha so I would probably just use those.

Thanks for the suggestions!
It's tough to decide.

Actually, they all are either Deer or Fawn in other languages.

Ayala ~ Feminine form of Hebrew Ayal, meaning deer; gazelle
Ceren ~ Turkish name meaning young gazelle
Elain  ~ Welsh name meaning fawn
Maral ~ Armenian name meaning deer
Tabatha ~ English variant of Aramaic Tabitha, meaning gazelle
Tabby ~ English pet form of Aramaic Tabitha, meaning gazelle

2 more possible names:
Sabrina - www.sheknows.com/baby-names/name/sabrina
Heather

Heather has a distinctly woodsy feel being a type of flower.

Names based on flowers are a plus in my book. Two names I took a liking to are Violet and Lily.
Arle

She doesn't strike me as a Lily, but Violet could work.  Have you considered Marigold?

I meant in general, not for this particular character. I have tons of characters that needs name, so it's good to have names in reserve.

For this particular character, I actually already thought of a name. Sabrina!
What do you think? Be honest. :p

I see I'm not the only one that read 'Sabrina' and thought 'the Teenage Witch'.  I also thought of Eric Schwartz's famous geeky skunk, but it's not like either of those have a monopoly on the name.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there.  Honestly, yes, she does look like she could be a Sabrina.  Unless you feel drawn more strongly to another name, then go for it.

Alternatives I've thought of are Belle and Bella but those are used by MLP and Twilight respectively.

One reason I like the name is because she will be in a stereotypically arabian setting. Sabrina sounds vaguely arabian and will sound good when spoken by arabian men. The fact the name is /not/ arabian is a plus since she is not actually from there.

The name fits, so I may have to take the punch of it being the same as the teenage witch.
And if Eric Schwartz was comfortable using the name Sabrina for one of his characters, then that tells me the name is definitely ok. (I'm assuming he isn't terrible at naming characters)

heey 3015 :D

Personally I wouldn't like to have names from Final Fantasy series.
I think I might go with the name Sabrina.. what do you think?

Well it was just my suggestion, you know I do suck at naming, name Sabrina do sound good aldo it reminds me on a TV show "Sabrina the teenage witch" hmm maybe this Doe have some Magical powers
But speaking about Magical Does:...How is Mirra doing? ^.^
Konda
10 years, 10 months ago
It reminded me of Sabrina the teenage witch too... normally I would use a different name. I am trying to avoid names that appear in pop culture, since I don't want people to read the name and instantly think of what the name is from. (Sabrina the teenage witch, Final Fantasy 8, etc)

But it's ironic you say she has magical powers. I decided the name Sabrina is ok precisely because she /doesn't/ have magical powers and thus couldn't be perceived as being similar in any way to Sabrina.

In other words, even if I use a pop culture name, the character should have nothing in common with the famous character, otherwise people will just mentally insert the traits of that famous character. Sabrina would be "Konda's version of Sabrina the teenage witch" with "a slightly different personality/appearance". I don't want that.

She has different personality, hairstyle, color, and no magical powers, and different setting.
That's why I used Sabrina, but after this, now I have second thoughts about the name. :p

By the way, you do not suck at naming, you gave me the names Mirriel (Mirra) and Sarrah which I think are great names, and furthermore they might have set everything in motion by getting me started naming all my characters. Part of me wants to collaborate with you naming them all, but I wonder if that would be lazy on my part. ¯\(°_o)/¯

"How is Mirra doing?"
In what sense? =)
I think of her a lot, but her story is so long and elaborate (maybe because I keep thinking of her) that if I get back into drawing, I plan on focusing on simpler characters at first.
I narrowed my choices down to the character currently named Sabrina, and another character I drew but never uploaded.

I am afraid that you will not duplicate any character of any TV series if you will use name Sabrina... I am not from US (or any other English speaking country) but I think Sabrina is Common English (meaning all English speacing country) name
About "Magical Powers" I actually ment it in methaphorical way, not a true Mana Based Power
About naming I am trying to work hard as I can, in comic I am workin on right now I am trying a new stile of naming characters (ask me if you want to know more)
and about Mirra, I would like to know her full story...it can be interesting reading...from what I know from your drawings, she was in millitery (I would allso like to know what possition have Humans in your 'Realm' and other Furries)

A user recommended this name site which he says he uses:
http://www.mybirthcare.com/favorites/babynames.asp
I found the site is very good.
There are 3 more names site I was using before that one.

"I am trying a new stile of naming characters (ask me if you want to know more)"
Which site is it?

Anyway, about Sabrina:
According to the site I use, Sabrina does not mean magic. The meanings listed are simply "legendary princess", "from the border" or "From Cyprus, or from the river Severn"
I understand you are not from an english speaking country so I will try to be mindful. Sabrina is not an english word and there are no english words similar to it. (aside from being a girl's name of course)

For Mirra's story, see here:
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4701396/#cid:34017905

As for humans and furries coexisting. At the moment, I stopped developing that world, to focus on just humans, to try and simplify things. But the old idea was that humans and furries coexisted and were mostly equal. Depending on region and time period, furries may be seen as subordinate to humans.

The site you showed seems to be good for naming, many good names showed when I tried it by my self ^.^

About my comic naming, (here is the comic btw, aldo I thought you already saw it ^.^ https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=423367 ) anyway the names I was picking was for race known as Bloodwing, basically a Bat race based on BloodElves from Warcraft series so I started using WoW Name Generator http://www.namegenerator.biz/wow-name-generator.php use is simple, just pick Race and Gender than click Generate

Well about name meanings, I am not sure if I know something about it, I guess you outsmart me in this league ^.^
anyway in the past (and now from time to time) I was mostly try to think about good sound of randomized name...for humans I think I will use Real names, but for other Species I will need to think about Rules that will apply by naming em, if you will would like to help me let me know.

Hmm Mirra seems to have a hard background, I hope to see that doe one day again (I wonder how she looked in Human form thou)
let me know if you will start working on that world, I do like your Deer furry species ^.^

I get what you mean. I just use human names though. Also, I've seen some artists treat deer furries as having native american heritage. I could do something similar. (take a species of furry and give them a cultural heritage from real life) Then I could use names from whatever country it's from. (for example, native american names)

I have drawn Mirra as a human. But only one time. In my FA gallery, see the submissions titled "experiment 211". That's her. (well, the face could be better. Someone complained about the face.)

that is a good idea...you do have few Deer characters and they can be a members of single species, if they will have some culture on their own that would be good...some Biological idea can be done too (like how much they are different from humans, how their reproduction work, are they genetically compatible with other species....etc.)
Many good ideas can be done with your Deers, if you will need some ideas or inspiration just ask me...you know I will like to help ^.^
