Thank you all!!!

I've received a hell of a lot of watchers in the last couple of days. I'm very grateful. Thanks to all of you who're now watching me, especially if you came over from FA!

That reminds me; I think I've come up with a pretty good metaphor for the two sites. FurAffinity is like the big city. It's noisy, it's busy, there are tons of people there, some of them are assholes, and in general it has a hot, stuffy, humid feel. Inkbunny on the other hand, is more like the countryside. Not as many people live out here, but those you do meet are friendly. It's quieter here, and the air is cleaner.

Dunno how long that'll last though! ;)

P.S. I also wanted to say that I most likely will never put up any friends-only content. I just can't think of a reason why I would. <shrug>

Good analogy ^^

I like to think I use analogies as well as a high-paid hooker uses her tongue. ;)

Hi.
You gonna upload that Arcee with WST Arcee, or is that against the rules here too?
AlexReynard
Yep, sorry. IB says no photography unless it's of something you created yourself. I don't mind much; this place is supposed to be for art 'n writing after all.

Did you want to see that photo again though? I could link to it.

That would be nice. I intended on saving it, but it was deleted and I forgot about it :p

Actually, I'd say that in this metaphor, the countryside is all the private art galleries out there, with people largely separated, but able to come and visit one another once in a great while... while Inkbunny is more like a recently constructed suburban (if I may be so SimCity) residential zone, where lots of families live in relative peace and quiet, but able to mingle, to often come over for parties and bring their cubs to the local playground... aaand this metaphor just took a turn for the disquieting/awesome. >:3
AlexReynard

I'd say that works pretty well. I like how it took a swerve to cubbiness too. ;)

Inkbunny is like the liberal north and FurAffinity is like the hillbilly, birther conservative south.

Post more journals on FA. I only ever go to FA to check your journals, I'd prefer to not have any reason to continue going there whatsoever.

>Post more journals on FA. I only ever go to FA to check your journals, I'd prefer to not have any reason to continue going there whatsoever.

I probably will. I'm thinking of drawing a line: IB for art/stories, FA for talking.

I feel like IB is more like the suburbs and SoFurry is like the countryside.
AlexReynard

I dunno much about SoFurry, just that I'm not fond of their site design.

Like I said, less structured, more wild. hence rural...OHSHI- I realized I sounded like a condescending ass.

It's only my opinion...I didn't mean anything...:(
AlexReynard

Actually, wouldn't a condescending ass be a butt that farts really patronizingly at you? I wonder what that would sound like?

As long as IB is kept being paid for, by the users who doesn't wanna see it go... there's very few things, which will ever change.
If I had the funds, I would probably be donating myself. If I get good after getting a (Note Book) for my art, to the point of paid commissions, I have already gave thought, to donating some myself. Of course, having a special cymbal next to FievelJ, honestly, I could care less about. Honestly, just knowing I'm doing my part, when I can, is enough, even without being publicly noted for it. Just the knowledge of knowing I'm helping, fills me with warm feelings, even if no one knew about it.

I ever get there though, it will end up being publicly noted, the way they've changed their system.
Which I can't complain about that either. Hey, at least if I do get good enough, people will automatically know, that some of the commission proceeds, go to help keep this (Great!) site running.
I won't even need to announce it, just by having a special icon next to my name, fellow furs will know anyways.

:D

Take Care And Huggles.

I'm taking a trip soon, but after I come back I'm hoping to make a big donation to IB.

Same here, pretty much.

AlexReynard

That's a good point. The grey of the place does make me think of skyscrapers and cubicles.
Reizinho

Cubicles? Green reminds of cubicles, actually. Not that vivid green, but that pale green... but the skyscrapers thing is true.
Alfador

Even the alternate "light" version of the site colors still is the kinds of grey that remind one of urban bleakness.

I actually made the same analogy, just about the whole internet instead of just FA and IB. It was part of an RPG thing set in a world based off the internet. :P If I were living in such a world, I'd be a rather backwater yokel type. I'm hardly active on any big sites and mostly just use the internet to get art and videos and hang with my friends!

Is it weird that I'm going to use this journal, of all things, to argue with you a bit?

Living in a rural area myself, I'd like to point out that the "Countryside is better" viewpoint is complete and utter bullshit. Instead of being assholes to your face, like in the city, people hold grudges and talk behind your back in rural areas. Nepotism and "Who's Who" scenarios are rampant. Progress is all but non-existent, as "The Good Ol' Days" is less a talking point and more a way of life and an ideal to strive toward. Feelings of entitlement are everywhere, mostly because of name recognition, but also because no one is in-your-face enough to fight against those feeling entitled. Because of this, if a student gets in trouble, it's the teacher's fault, not the student's or the parent's. See, again, the "talking behind others' backs" part to understand why that is. Because rural places are so small, everyone knows everyone, so being outspoken about anything will get you shunned by the entire town.

So yeah. Inkbunny is FAR better than a countryside location, although your evaluation of FA is pretty apt. And now you know a rural person's perspective on things. Hah!

>Living in a rural area myself, I'd like to point out that the "Countryside is better" viewpoint is complete and utter bullshit.

Complete and utter agreement. In fact, I disliked Pixar's Cars for its over romanticization of small town life. I guess the analogy doesn't hold up much then. <shrug> They can't all be gems.
Humbug

It's okay, since the failure just made Inkbunny look better. :)

It depends; on the town, on the people.

I've lived in all kinds of different places, and I've seen the small towns he's described, and I've seen small towns that are every bit the romanticized version you see in movies. Neither way of portraying small town life is bullshit, because towns of both types, and everything inbetween, do exist.
AlexReynard

Good points. I guess then what I'm really against is whenever anything is portrayed as being always completely one way or another.
