I was strongly thinking about this, but then I realized that, you don't ever talk to me and you're not even watching my account. Good luck with your kickstarter.

Oh, well, that's fixed.

Don't mistake a nonwatch as apathy, it's not. Oh, and if you make an indiegogo too, good luck in return. I believe in karma (real karma).

...I wasn't aware somebody had to actually watch you and talk to you to get support for a Kickstarter :O

Apparently so.

"I was strongly thinking about this" Does not mean i was thinking about donating. I worded that way on purpose.

I see, I think most people would make the same assumption I did though.

Thanks for the clarification anyway.

Good luck with the fundraiser, I'm trying to raise money to go to the convention myself (so far it's not going anywhere near as well as i would hope) but if things turn around and I have some money I can spare I'll send it your way.

Thanks, Saber!

By any chance, do you like Saber?

No problem, and I get that question a lot, I like her and a good deal of the show, but my screen name actually comes from my old fascination of swords I had as a kid, I actually didn't know about the Fate/stay night series till someone asked me the same question owo

nice, i just added a few to my collection. Gladius Machete and a recon tanto.  gotta love a wepon that's 100% quiet and never runs out of ammo

Ahh the Gladius, always a good choice for a blade, I have a replica one I picked up at the New York Comic Con two years ago, and my uncle bought me a Wakizashi from his last trip to Japan, the blade is still sharp but sadly it was cheap so it wasn't forged well enough, so it will probably break on the first swing~

Is there anything we will get in return for making a donation? Free art requests and such?
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 6 months ago
Maybe, depends on my free time. I can doodle anything.
Zala

Not to sound like a downer, BCS, but you really do need to provide rewards if you're going to do a fundraiser. Very few people will donate knowing they'll get nothing back. I'm just being realistic here.

In any case, all the best in your fundraising campaign!

I don't really have the time or luxury too, I'm afraid. I give back to the communities every single day.
Zala

That may be true, but you know how (most) people work. They normally only give something if they know they'll get something in return...

Added: And honestly, you can't blame them.
ButtercupSaiyan

Yeah, it's just like *shrug* there's this whole flash we did: http://clopstep.tumblr.com/ It's not done and it won't be to the quality I want until people throw money at us.

And there are more but I can't direct if I can't afford to pay my own bills and have little luxuries and things. A happy artist makes lots of good art. And an unhappy artist doodles a lot of shitty artist. Like, you can see the quality drop when I'm having a piss-poor day.

$2000 is enough to live on for an entire year over here 0_0
is traveling really THAT expensive over in America?
how do you guys survive there?
i would love to help but thanks to the exchange rate it will only amount to a few cents.
ButtercupSaiyan

Yes traveling really is THAT expensive in this economy: plane tickets, hotel room costs, cost of convention itself, food, travel expenses, and taxis. That was how much it cost last time.
InsaneProxy

Why exactly do you need $2000? It does not cost THAT much to attend a convention.
ButtercupSaiyan

Yes.
It.
Does.

Again, travel, taxis, hotel, vendor table, con merchandise.
Minun

I'm honestly curious about your budget break-down for it.
ButtercupSaiyan

In general:

Plane tickets: $200-300 for a round trip
Taxis cost $100 on average. I do not own a car. This is all out of pocket.
Con merchandise costs around $1000+ to prepare, spread out over many months and fundraisers and donations/commissions, we survive by the skin of our teeth.
Food (YES WE HAVE TO EAT): about $100 a week for 2 people
Art supplies: anywhere from $200+
Hotel rooms cost around $100 a night for conventions.
Bronycon vendor table cost: http://www.bronycon.org/events/vendors = $125. I could not pay it and had to give up my slot even though I preregistered for the convention in anticipation.

Zetapony has been doing his DAMNDEST to get the Bronycon Animation Panel off the ground: https://twitter.com/ZetaPony

Any more invasive questions?
Minun

Nope. That should cover it. :V

- Taxis: Some of us fellow pedestrians like to use things called "Buses", "Trams" and "Trains", which are (relatively) cheaper than Taxis to use. Most UK cities have bus companies who do weekly tickets for ~£20.

- Materials: For £200+ are you buying a solid gold brush handle? Stock up on reasonably priced stuff off the internet before you go, so you don't have to buy at extortionate rates in the city.

- Hotel: Okay, I understand this. I'm having to pay £75/night for BUCK in August.

- Merch: I'm going to say this out loud now. Honestly by pleading for money just to push your commercial interests, it's not a good thing (in fact it's near Used Car Salesman on the Conperson scale). Not only did you NOT mention this on your Indiegogo page, you failed to let any potential donors know this (meaning it can be classed as fraud). If you really want to sell merch, take the risk to your own wallet.

If you really want to get $2000, economise your life a little to save money (stop buying takeout food, walk more etc).

Tram is an excellent idea for cost-effective saves.

No, oil paints are inherently pricy to restock, so are canvases.

It cannot be classed as fraud because I'm completely transparent in my business dealings.

I already walk enough and I don't order takeout. Next!
