Writing Challenge #8: Eggs-travaganza at the Hop!

by
Oh, no! It's that time again-- Time for another Writing Challenge! And this time could be challenging indeed! :)

Blame
CyberCornEntropic
CyberCornEntropic
for suggesting the species, this time, since I already did a bunny as the species keyword earlier, and this time it'll be the Australian alternative: The Easter Bilby.

What the hell is a bilby anyway? This is a rabbit-sized nocturnal marsupial with a long, thin tail, long rabbit-like ears, long hindlegs, short forelegs, and a prehensile snout-- In short, it bears some striking resemblance to the extinct leptictidium and endangered Cuban & Hispaniolan solenodon species, but because of the Australian loathing of rabbits as pests (long, sad story), this species, listed as "Vulnerable" in terms as a threat of endangerment, is popular today as an alternative to the Easter Bunny at this time of year. (See above.) There's even a colourised silver half-dollar with a bilby issued in Australia.

So then- We have a species.. What are the other two keywords? Well, in total, they are:

BILBY
RAIN
FLOWER

As usual, the rules are simple: They need not be tied to the date theme, as the event is moreso for my convenience to post them, thus this, as with ALL previous Writing Challenges, have no expiration dates. That said, it's anything goes, clean or naughty, can be titled whatever you want, can be short-short or long-long, just as long as the three keywords are used in it in some manner. Unlike some writing prompts, it's not a phrase, but just three keywords. And oh, yes-- I don't expect the obvious, but I DO expect you, the writer, to have fun with it! :)

By the way, just so you know, I'm planning on trying to keep the Writing Challenges going until at least my birthday-- 10 October, when I turn 46-- and perhaps longer, if I can garner more interest.

Below is a list of past and current Challenges, with links to all submissions for each.

April showers bring May flowers.  What do May flowers bring?

Pilgrims.

How's this?
How Deidrei Saved Easter by CyberCornEntropic
I think you'll find "flower" and "rain" to have been a bit freely interpreted. :p

*grin* I'll be reading it shortly, but insofar as "freely interpreted", remember what I keep saying in my Writing Challenges: I don't expect the obvious. :) And that's the spirit of the Challenge. :)

Consider it a heads-up rather than a warning, then. ;p

What good's a challenge if it's obvious? ;) Yet another well-written story, BTW. :)
