You know it's a movie right? Not a series.

This is basically the non-canon alt-universe "let's have a li'l fun with something in the toy line" movie that they were hinting about a while.

If anyone hates it, at least it's not canon so you don't HAVE to accept it. I'm weirded out by it but I'm not gonna care about it because it doesn't really mess with the show's world itself.

I love how there's flame threads and journals all over the Internet before anyone has actually seen the film. Personally I'm keeping optimistic about it for now. It might end up as film of the year, or it might end up as worse than Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

People are also sending death threats to DHX, and some of the staff is quitting because of it. The same creative team behind MLP:FIM, by the way. Bronies are really shooting themselves in the foot (hoof?) over this.

What were they thinking? Money. More specifically they want to combine the success of those monster high school girl things (whatever they're called) and FiM and sell more. Of course they're quite clueless, but what do you expect of Hasbro? They're an ancient juggernaut; completely out of touch.

I wish Lauren Faust was in control of the MLP franchise, but she's not. So, we kind of have to navigate past the scum to maintain our enthusiasm. I'm not going to watch EG, and I haven't dug into the trailers and whatnot; I don't want to embrace negativity.

They are one of the largest and most successful toy companies in the world and sees a very viable expansion of a successful brand. Exactly how the hell are they out of touch? Because they are doing something that is not in your specific tastes? Well, guess what, you are not their bloody target audience.

Frankly, I don't feel invited to spend any more time elaborating on the dated principles of companies such as Hasbro. I will say though that success and quality shouldn't be measured by current size in comparison to competitors, but rather on maximizing potential. If you think that that's what they're doing already, that's fine, but I'd disagree.

I have no clue at all what negative assumptions you are referring to.

Your comments make it sound as if you have some practical knowledge of how a company's success measured, rather than having simply an idealist opinion. However, by refusing to go into detail of your argument and provide justification, you invalidate your argument.

It is a competitive world, there is no other real success of a company than its sales and how strong it is being traded. That is not dated, that is how it simply is.

That. I find that an odd link. I'm not someone who only thinks people pandering to my personal preferences are 'with it'. What nonsense. My opinion is based on how Hasbro behaves as a company; how it markets, interacts, plans, capitalizes, etc etc. That's the only way you should interpret that.

You seem to think I'm having an argument with you; I'm not going into detail entirely because I don't want to. If you want to do that, go to someone else. lol as far as pony shit goes this actually doesn't look that bad, nice twist of story to say the least. im not a die hard pony fan so meh i wouldent really have a strong opinion

I'm almost certain it will be crap, but I honestly hope to be proven wrong.
Seems like an imitation of Winx Club, I think they're trying to achieve the same success of that series, or even surpass it, I saw a few episodes and almost felt like throwing up, it is probably a strategy to sell fashion items other than ponies and cover the gap of those who do not like the ponies but love makeup, fashion and glamour.
Anyway, never judge a book by its cover, I'll wait before giving the final judgment.

Can't say I didn't see it coming. Even though it was ultimately unavoidable I'd still prefer they go with something other than a school drama.
With that said I'll still watch it, through ulterior means of course.

Over all, i don't like the idea. Its Winx Club meets Monster High. Granted I will probably watch it for any possible hentai potential, and hey maybe the story will be interesting (full of cliche, but hey what can you do) .... But right now i have no care for it.

truth be told, it's starting to grow on me about the whole different world idea but the movie gonna boring. really, you can guess the plot might be.
-the bad guy is the guy twi meets
-sunset is the bad guy at first or is truly the bad guy
-sunset is that worlds twilight(hint when you see her picture of her winning the crown twice. the first one she is happy but the second one she is mean looking and the first crown is purple. which means she got corrupted, hint the red crown)
- this is also hinted in a book where you can see human version of the mane6 but no twilight. plus if this is a world with the same ponies but in human form, were's the other twilight?

then there the whole pointless highschool thing. why set it there when twilight is much older(sure there no canon age yet but faust said she see them around in their early 20's) and why is spike a dog? thats a jab to his character. are they saying he's twi pet and not her lil bro like we think?

then there the highschool dumb played out cliche.
-new girl at school with no friends and is a bookworm
-mean bitch highschool girl(which i bet sunset is a cheerleader)
-new girl meets her love interest(which i bet he's a football player or basketball player)
-highschool dance with twi winning the crown(because the crown is from the pony world)

i don't see the show as human ponies. i see more as anthro ponies because the skin color. sure the Simpson and monsterhigh have different skin color but guess what, it works for those shows. the simpsons yellow means white in their world. monsterhigh works because some are monsters but it doesn't work here. right away, i felt this was a white highschool with no other race.

then last but not least. i felt this movie is against what faust wanted for little girls to learn. this movie is saying when you enter highschool, you need to be skinny and pretty. sure the message of being who you are will be there but the message of how you look won't be. not once did you see a non skinny girl or guy. i understand this movie isn't for the older fans but if i had a daughter, i won't let her see this without telling her how highschool really works and you shouldn't care how you look.

like i said, i like the idea of a human world version of the pony world but this movie kind of fails in pulling the idea. this movie is just meant to sell dolls and nothing more. sure, they did it in the show a few times but this takes the cake by making it into a movie and placing mlp on it, to increase the chance of selling and getting more girls in buying it.

if the movie turns out good. cool. if it turns out shit. still cool because least the older fans/bronies can make a better plot around the new world.

I dunno...Like, the whole story of the thing is predictable.

but I kinda think the human-ized ponies are sorta cute and it's an interesting twist on their designs, I suppose.

Really need more info about this thing. Only seen a few images of Monster High, although apparently there are various games available for it already, whre as FIM after three years doesnt really have any (Gameloft offering is a game?)

For variations in characters though, compare to The Simpsons. Quickest example? Millhouse and Nelson. Lets see if they have a near 100% variation in height, 300% variation in weight, and 10% with spectacles, braces, etc (Derpy, Twist)

As for two high level magic users conflicted over winning the prom? Well, could they remake Carrie (?)

Going to be intresting to see if only the holder of the crown can use magic, because they cant channel it otherwise.

Adding again, I don't mind human versions of ponies. They actually look better than the 2nd concept art version. It is going to be canon with a capital c. DHX has pulled miricles before so we will see.

Looks too girly girly for me to enjoy it. Teen gal in school, finds random "nice guy who's kinda handsome" not 5 minutes into it, working against bullies, etc.

However, the main thing preventing be from liking it is Spike being turned into a blasted DOG.

I detested Dragon Quest and Spike at your Service, this is another maggot on the pile.

Well, if they make a shitty movie, they make a shitty movie. We do have to keep in mind that this product isn't directed at us; we're a fortunate accident.
It'd be an understatement to call the high-school environment a cliche, and the art design is absolutely atrocious. Maybe it won't too terrible if they have a good villain. Not likely though, the plot will probably end up being: "High school bully finds magic tiara and acts like a predictable bitch," given the preview.

This is not even scratching my nerves. I was more angry about "How to train your dragon"...since I'm a dragon.
This is just...I want ponies. Got enough humans around myself, as it is. Also....toys of these are coming out, that's for sure. Hasbro managed to entertain me in the past years (I loved the movie Battleship) so maybe this won't be such a disaster...as it looks ij the trailer...but I highly doubt it. Have to read a good review of it and, then maybe I'm going to watch it. But my ultimate opinion is: I...We still want the...
