It was awesome seeing him in person at a convention when I flew over to Washington at the start of the year.
The tune of the Beach Stage immediately jumps into my head as soom at someone mentions this game even though I never owned the game.

thats the fun thing about old games. They did alot with what they had. So
when you had a game with good music it's because of hard work and tallent.
You get some REALLY catchy music from it. (see megaman XD) Honestly
I think we have better music makers from that era for making awesome music
back when all they had was the old sound chips.
Heh.. Just look at the TMNT Turtles in time game, the old version vs the new..
Old was just better on ALL fronts.

Technically the sega genesis' sound hardware is more of a midi synth with patches support (there were many sound drivers used throughout the genesis' life, and the streets of rage games along with beyond oasis all used the same driver). The nes is chiptune, and the snes is tracker (.mod like music).

Still, seeing how limited the genesis' sound hardware was (it was basically a less powerful Yamaha YM2608 synth), we can only be amazed by the music from games like streets of rage, beyond oasis, rocket knight adventures and castlevania bloodlines.

Yeah.. i just read a interview with Yuzo Koshiro talking about how simple was making music on the genesis.. (since it was like midi, like you said) ...heheh.. i remember the .mod songs back to the beggining of the 90s...  ^^

That is one of the most beautiful soundtracks for any first person shooter ever <3
