QUICK journal about the new Friends feature.

1) I have no intention of posting Friends-only content at this time.
2) I've already added my RL friends.
3) If you want to add me, add me, but know that it's going to be one-sided if you post private submissions, and zero-sided if you don't.
4) If an artist says they're going to post private material and are accepting requests, I'll send one out if I want to view that material. Otherwise, don't feel rejected if you think of me as a friend and I didn't send out a request. Just send one to me.
5) If I do decide to ever post private submissions, I will reevaluate the list and may cut some people off of it. This will not be a hypothetical slight against any of you, just me trying to keep my hypothetical private content to fewer people. It's really an unfortunate name for the feature.

Exactly. It'll be worth it for some people, but not most.

I've been wondering about this and some of my 'watches' ever since this new feature came out. Thanks for the info!

I actually like the idea. I will agree that 'friends' isn't really a good name for it, however; I personally only made a request to those I would like to consider my friends. At the same time, I do find this to be better then the watch list because it ensures that both people get informed of any and all submissions from either side. With this new 'Privacy List' enabled, it means I am sure someone will at least read my journals now lol

I can't imagine myself posting something here that I would not want seen by most people.  So, while I'll likely honor any friend requests I receive, it will be exactly the same as just watching me.  I hope most others are doing the same.  I think the new feature only serves to encourage people to not share with everyone - good for private email, but not so good for an art website.  Imagine if it became overused and more than half the content here was not available to any one person.

True, but there are definitely cases where someone would only want to share certain content with people they trust, and not anybody with an Inkbunny account. This way, such content can at least be put on Inkbunny and shared with trusted friends that way, rather than relying on mass emails or other methods.
