So I was leaving work earlier. For those of you who don't know, I work late, so it's way after midnight. I hear something odd for that time of night. A robin singing. You know that noisy singing they tend to do right before dawn? Yeah, that kind. Just chirping away non stop.
I'm thinking: "That robin's internal clock must be really off, or something woke him up." I always figured that a robin would sing so frantically at dawn in order to make the sun come up. You know, in a primitive way of thinking. "Every morning I sing and the sun comes up. If I don't sing the sun won't come up, so I better be sure to sing every morning." So now I start to feel bad for the bird, cuz I know he's gonna be singing for the next six hours going "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SUN?!?? AM I DOING THIS WRONG??? THIS IS THE EXACT SAME SINGING I DO EVERY MORNING!!!! I MUST HAVE BROKE THE SUN!!! FUCK!!!!"
