Adobe wants more of your moniz

So the next Adobe products will be based on a monthly subscription fee instead of a one time purchase?
And I thought Microsoft was bad enough with that.

Fun fact: They've released the full version of CS2 as a free download in early 2013 when they shut down the original CS2 registration servers. Instead of having to enter a registration code, all you have to do now is use the new serial numbers available on the download site and insert the original disks.

It may be a bit old (2005), but it already has some HD support in PPro 2.0 and AfterEffects, plus you get Photoshop, Adobe Encore, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Audition 2.0 as well. So you could save some money by getting an old physical copy of CS2, of the Adobe Production Studio (which was the video-focused version of CS, available for just that one edition), or the CS2 version(s) of the individual programs off eBay, and then use that with the downloads. Just be sure the seller is also selling you the original serial, to be on the safe side.

Here's the (German) download: http://www.adobe.com/de/downloads/cs2_downloads/ There's one full CS2 package, and downloads just for the individual programs. Sorry about the German version, but it's what the site automatically re-directs me to due to my IP. I hope it'll re-direct you to your language version, or you could try searching on the site or googling.

I don't use Photoshop either, except for some DVD menu authoring because it's what Encore connects to when you wanna do more with a menu's layers than you can do in Encore alone. But other than that, I use Corel Paint Shop Pro.

But look what else you get! When I bought Adobe Production Studio with all thosee programs back in 2005, I got both students *AND* business discount added together (still in education, already running a small registered business), and it still was close to 900 Euros.

So that explains why my old CS2 conked out on me for no reason.

Greedy jerks...

CS2 should work. It's free as far I know.

It shouldn't just "conk" on you now. Actually, you'd only run into problems when trying to re-install or repair it whole or in parts just with your old disks, which is when the install will keep telling you that "registration has failed for unknown reason" and you should try registering by phone instead.

If you call that number from the 2005 disk setup, it rings a few times, then it clicks and the ringing sound changes (as you've obviously been redirected), then after a few more rings there's another click, and a tape announcement comes on telling you that the CS2 registration servers have been shut down and that you should "seek online support".

That's when I started googling and found out about the free downloadable setups for CS2 that have replaced the original CS2 registration server.
