Name Change - Now MeganBryar

So I decided to change my name here. While I'm still very fond of Niamh as a name, as well as one of my dearest characters, I'm Megan everywhere else and as I do tend to commission a fair bit of artwork over on FA, and have done so a bit on Weasyl, I thought it would avoid any confusion if I were known by the same name everywhere I hang out. Besides which, I rather suspect that more people will know how to pronounce "Megan".

Thanks to

Hehehe, no, not dumb. But as soon as I told you, I definitely expected to see it happen! Congratz on the change!

(P.S. - I am literally about to write the Megan/Megan scene. I'll PM you the link.)

Well, I appreciate it all the same. It's nice to have the right name here now, too, and thanks!

I'll be looking forward to it.

I like the name Megan :)
(Of course I like Niamh too, and I also know how to pronounce it, hehe).

But Megan is a nice name :)
Apparently it means "Pearl"

They're both good names. I have hopes of adopting Megan as my legal name one of these days, too.

I've seen several meanings given for the name, including "pearl" as well as "strong" and "able". They're all good, though. I'm glad you like the name, too.

Hmm, now you've made me curious about what your current legal name is... :)
(Is it actually "Niamh"?)

I have a few bookmarked sites where I can look up the meanings of names.  It's handy for when I create characters for stories, 'cos I like their names to mean something related to their character.
Apparently Niamh is the name of a character from an Irish Gaelic myth, and means "beauty" and "brightness" :)

I thought it might. If you really want to know, I could note it to you, but I don't like making it too public. 'Cause I'm paranoid. It isn't Niamh, though. That name is a bit too exotic for the part of the world where I grew up.

I've got a few sites like that bookmarked, too, since they're handy for when I can't think of a name for a character myself. Though I don't, usually, pick meaningful names for my characters. My Niamh was named for the mythological figure, though, just as her mother-in-law Deirdre was named for the mythic Deirdre. I was big into the ancient Celts when I was an undergraduate, and in fact I still am, really. Actually, ancient history, period, has been something of an obsession of mine ever since I was old enough to realize there was a world outside my door.

Me too :)
I always thought that if I hadn't withdrawn so much and become a computer geek at school, I'd have ended up going into archaeology.  Stuff like that really interests me.
Doing a bit of research in archaeology at the moment for a novel series I'm tinkering with.  One of the main characters is an archaeologist, and I want to make it seem like he knows his stuff, even though his writer doesn't, hehe.

Also I'd like to know your real name if you're ok with telling me.
If you don't feel comfortable with telling me though, no worries.  I'm just curious :)
