text messages

As part of an experiment, I paid for unlimited texting this month. If you have my number, I will be available! :D If you don't have my number and are someone I trust enough to give it to you, just poke me on skype, yahoo, or aim. I encourage my friends to bother me often. I'll respond when I can. I tend to sleep in on the mornings(I'll respond when I wake up) and usually work nights(I'll respond on my breaks or when the restaurant is slow).

I know, right? D: My boyfriend lives outside of this country. Luckily unlimited data means I can talk on steam, aim, and yahoo. Skype used to be an option, but the large group chats kill the battery and crash "imo" (the app).

D: Get one! You can get a budget phone with a texting plan nowadays for cheap. I only can't use those companies because I live out in the woods and the hotel I work at repels most phone signals. T-mobile has a bleh signal, but unlimited data. Verizon is the best but it's so damn expensive for so little bandwidth. I'm so torn. :(

Check to see if Ptel services your area. They offer pre-paid plans where you can buy $100 worth of time/minutes and you'll get a year worth of service time, and at 5¢/min & 2¢/txt it may take a while to get through even that much. But even if you did, consider how much less expensive it would be over the course of a year. Verizon was charging me $25 ($30 after taxes/fees) a month for 200minutes and no texts. That's $360/year for a total of 2400 minutes (15¢/min), compared to Ptel's $100/year for a total of 2000 minutes (5¢/min). Heck, even if I was using my phone heavily for a while and had to spend $300/year that would equate to 6000 minutes and 3 years of service time. If/when my phone use returns to normal use I can simply coast on the service time and just buy minutes when I need them. =3 So much cheaper~ X3

I think almost every carrier around here has converted to some kind of unlimited talk and text setup. They're trying to rip people off on data. Which might be okay for others, but I don't talk much and not everyone can text. So I use data more than the rest of it.

Do you know whose towers they use? A coworker recommended PagePlus because they use Verizon towers, but I would have to buy a new phone.

I looked it up. They use Sprint towers. Sprint sucks here. :/
