FurAffinity still sucking, as usual

They removed Gami's journal (but not here on IB, where they have NO power) but they didn't remove mine yet.

Apparently for linking people to his IB account according to the comments. It seems FA admins don't want people migrating over here.
air6ornepig

Well that sounds like a bunch of horseshit, and I wouldn't doubt that considering it is FA.
Whatever, though. Sun shines, grass grows, FA licks balls. It's just what they do.

Yeah they removed something from my gallery calling it underaged all because of the artstyle.Completely ignoring all the anatomy aspect.
air6ornepig

Removed 3 from mine, so I said "fuck it" and left.

No point in being on that site if I'm not allowed to have a certain style. It's not like I can consciously change the way I draw.
Ookamithewolf1

They did the same thing to me. Eventually if I get popular enough here I'll tell FA where to go and jump ship, but till then I need the extra exposure.
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 4 months ago
I look like cub IRL from age 18-24 pretty much. What then!? Is my OC "cub" now too?

Fuckers! They threatened to ban me for my gallery up from before the cub rule, after saying they wouldn't be banning for art posted before their rules changed!

Stuff like this: https://e621.net/post/show/224293/bat-blue_eyes-blush-b...

It's why the only thing I left up was this: https://www.furaffinity.net/scraps/buttercupsaiyan/ showing that I do, in fact, resemble my own character and she's not goddamn underage, she's moe/cutie. Get it right!
air6ornepig
5 years, 4 months ago
My OC and a friend's were deleted too for that reason :(
Then they deleted 2 more images because they "resembled cub characters" too much or some shit. I told them I'm just shitty at art when I appealed it. Kinda sucks because I feel like I was targeted for an art style.
Also you scraps are empty (that or it's just full of porn, I left FA so I can't see shit).
slightlyshade
5 years, 4 months ago
Well, that's the innate problem with such rules; it's all up to interpretation. It's really why it's only logical that art should be free, but if they think it pleases some banks somewhere, so be it. They shouldn't be moral dickheads about it though; after all, their motivation was prudence (or cowardice!).
air6ornepig
5 years, 4 months ago
Y'know I've thought the exact same thing. The moral cowardice part, at least.

The thing that really doesn't help anybody is that the rules are too vague, and they don't include "things that look like minors," and then they don't even define "minor" and just assume everyone knows what it applies to.
slightlyshade
5 years, 4 months ago
Yeah, you're right. And though I think you'll always have that vagueness when putting forth such innately nebulous laws, they could've tried for something less loose. Perhaps it's a conscious effort to make sure that they can delete whatever they want when the situation calls for it. An ultimate CYA, if you will.

That's not how the community sees it, though. They cheer at the "better standards" (if they're no dissidents themselves) as they consider these sort of drawings as being just a few steps from counseling. (Think of the pixel children!)

slightlyshade
5 years, 4 months ago
Very sure. They're not prudes at all, they just have gotten that image after the fact. They just wanted to be able to please the credit card companies and governments out there. Those, in fact, might also be cowards, but that's to be expected.

TheLunatic25

If FA continues to drive folks away from their main site, it is VERY possible. Especially since there's another competitor that is very similarly  designed *points at Weasyl* Except this competition gives the main masses features they want, such as folders. :P
KamenOne
5 years, 4 months ago
Perhaps. I know of that site and i've stop posting on FA. Only thing keeping me from being active here is the "no hyoomanoids" in porn" policy that makes the site (to outsiders) look like its run by dogfuckers. As you notice, I barely have anything here, but the moment they decide to lift this policy they're so hellbent on keeping, then the sites population would explode significantly.
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 4 months ago
It's because of the laws of where the servers are kept, you should check the Inkbunny frontpage, they explain that.

You know what I support? I'm not active there but HentaiFoundry. Pretty okay place. Better than Tumblr bullshit with all the troll deletions and it was like wtf was that.
GreenReaper
5 years, 4 months ago
Not going to happen. Illegal depictions all revolve around humans, or humans "plus" non-human features (think neko). Banning their depiction in sexual situations saves us a significant amount of heartache, while having little effect on our core demographic.

We are definitely not interested in an explosion in users if those users are mostly uploading or viewing human porn. There are other sites for that, just as there are for photography. Inkbunny serves the furry community; our staff and donors volunteer their time and money because we remain focussed on that goal.

We know that some furries like to mix humans in, but unfortunately that brings in all the legal problems mentioned above, plus a few more obscenity points for bestiality. FA has claimed that cub art is a problem, but our view is that it only becomes a legal issue (as opposed to, say, a payment processing issue) when humans are involved.
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 4 months ago
Question: What IS a good site for posting amateur photography, like random trees and shit no one cares about? Flicker?
GreenReaper
5 years, 4 months ago
Yeah, I'd go with Flickr there, though they have that big limit of showing the 200 most recent photos for a free account, or Photobucket. Or heck, Windows Photo Gallery has a Skydrive sharing option, though that's more useful if you're just sharing with friends. There's a comparison here.
KamenOne
5 years, 4 months ago
I see. Sorry, this rule and places being short on supply that cater to those of us who like humanoids more (mind you, I got NOTHING against furries) and its been a source of frustration. Hentai Foundry is too restrictive and anal, FA is...well, FA and it frustrates me ever so much that their isn't really a place on the web that caters to me and the fact that I lack the money to make such a site myself (otherwise I would in a moments notice).

FA sucks? I guess I'm pretty used to water being wet heh. Am wondering how many years FA has left before they crash and burn. Problem is, I KNOW when they do, all the "treat cartoons like they're real people in real life" assholes will start dribbling over to IB because they need their porn fix. Ugh. I think IB is better set up to minimize trolling and junk but I am NOT looking forward to the flood that might happen some day.

I get why FA banned cubs; the company that handled the ADs for FA had an issue with it. Fine, FA needs money to keep going and it isn't making enough off donations. That's reasonable. I can also see why they take down cub-like stuff, since it's less about what is cub and more about what the people holding the purse-strings will think is cub.

What I don't get is why they're so bloody vague about it and why they're so hostile towards criticism. From what I've seen Dragoneer tends to be a cool guy and will explain the situation calmly and clearly. From what I hear there's a revolving door of mods who just don't grasp the concept of PR and thus keep getting fired because they can't.
dmfalk
5 years, 4 months ago
Actually, it was the online money service they used, AlertPay, which is like PayPal, only they claimed to allow porn sites. They even had approval for the cub content, then had the balls to say they've forfeited their account for that same reason. Here's the kicker: IB got hit with the same thing from the same service. The difference is how the two sites handled the situation! FA started in on the bans to "appease" AlertPay to get their money back, and IB went with something else. The main restriction on IB has nothing to do with money, but rather the server's location.

And to make the difference that much more stark, IB is in the black with no ads, and FA is constantly in the red, even with ads.

And I won't go into 'Neer, as I have personal experience with him predating FA, and believe me, it isn't kind, and sadly, for as much as he tries to hide it with seeming-reasonability and intelligence, he hasn't changed.

The only reason anyone's still with FA is because it's still the biggest site, and everyone else is still there.

Reminds me of the clean-furry gallery site Yerf-- They started banning things left and right, but when the site crashed, there was no-one left to help it get back up, and now all that remains is a mirror archive, somewhere. That was.... 13 years ago- Yikes!

Actually, that was proven false, by Dragoneer's own words (who, btw, was the one that said it was because of Paypal and AlertPay).

He contradicts himself, and he is the one that started the rumor.

He, therefore, proves his previous statements false by telling us "the truth".

Stop trying to confuse the point.
dmfalk
5 years, 4 months ago
I'm not; I'm only stating that a contradiction does not prove a truth. Like "The Boy Who cried Wolf", it could just be another lie.

Besides, it was
starling
starling
- IB's owner and main admin- who confirmed the PayPal/AlertPay situation.

d.m.f.
TheLunatic25
5 years, 4 months ago
You are, since that situation was based off of what Dragoneer was telling us.

Unless the owner of IB was on Dragoneer's personal staff and had access to such records as the activity with PP/AlertPay, then it is all pulled into question.

The fact that Dragoneer went 'This is not real, it is a rumor' is enough. Yes, his word should NOT be trusted, I agree with you. But that proves his previous statements were false, as *HE* is the one that first talked about that situation.

...also, this site...IB...has never had these issues...so, uhh...what?
dmfalk
5 years, 4 months ago
Actually, the two admins discussed the issue, and reported them independently, as both were hit with it at the same time. Yes, IB did have the same issues-- IB also acted as online publishing agent/store, as many early furs could sell prints and digital downloads through IB. This was discontinued, only to be later restarted in a way that presently allows selling digital copies between artist and buyer, and not through IB itself. This skirts around using PayPal and AlertPay as payment methods through Inkbunny.

Your own statement would essentially mean one of them is a liar, because both said the same thing, originally, and one ('Neer) recanted. Since you believe 'Neer is telling the truth, when he has a clear history of both lies and deceit, when he's contradicting what he originally said, then Starling must be a liar, because he did not contradict the original statements.

And yes, I'll repeat, to make it clearer: IB's AlertPay account was indeed frozen because of the cub content, just as FA's was, but instead of appeasing AlertPay with bans, they chose to go on with other means, like using Bitcoins.

d.m.f.
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 4 months ago
Oh, wait the sales system is working? Hold up, I gotta try that.
dmfalk
5 years, 4 months ago
To a degree, as far as I know-- It's more of a way for artist and buyer to connect directly, than rather through IB, last I heard. But some are still offering sales on new items, so......

d.m.f.
TheLunatic25
5 years, 4 months ago
That changes things a great deal, since we are NOT just simply discussing Dragoneer (who still has proven his statements to be faulty and untrusthworthy...in other words, he lies), but I would like to see some evidence of this beyond simple hearsay. Is there a journal or something I can see/read on it?
ButtercupSaiyan
5 years, 4 months ago
I wish I could fave comments, haha.
dmfalk
5 years, 4 months ago
:)

I "retired" from FA because of what 'Neer and his cronies did, and left on my account only my "Transitions" series of journals (and my Schnuffel collection list as of when I did cease being any more active than PMs and lurking) and my surviving +faves, simply because of his actions- not just the bans (which, BTW, Rouge isn't underage, but adult art involving her IS banned!), but the often-conflicting excuses for doing them-- Essentially, if he's banning things- and it's HIS site, therefore HIS responsibility for the actions of his appointed admins- just to appease others, who knows what else he'll ban? It's not going to stop! And it's his crew, under his advisement, that deletes and bans anything mentioning Inkbunny, which was accelerated after a recent survey last year that found most thought IB was the best of the furry sites, and not FA.

Do I believe anything he says? Nope. It's no wonder, to my eye (I'm blind in the other), that he's become unwelcome at several cons.

What
starling
starling
has done here is nothing short of exactly the opposite of 'Neer, and has produced a far better, WORKING furry community site in the form of Inkbunny.

And we won't go into the fact it was 'Neer who commissioned himself into a previous project of Starling's, Softpaw Magazine....

Jealousy, I smell jealousy! :D

I completely understand FA needed to ban cub. IB and sofurry still exist, so I was generally unfazed. The reason I don't like FA is their is just too much drama, not even from the mods, from the users themselves. Everyone here is just really loving and caring...even ppl who don't like certain fetishes can be friends with artists of them. Thought furry was all about community :/

FA had no reason to ban cubs, other than they because they wanted to. The fact was they lost AlertPay, plain and simple. AP made it abundantly clear that they weren't coming back, and to never contact them again.

Banning cubs was nothing more than smoke in mirrors.
