Makes me wonder if there was just a bunch of incumbent, overpaid people in there and it was just easier to close the whole company down than try to let certain people go. I'm sure the ones they wanted to keep have been re-offered jobs at Disney or something.

no, it's just easier and cheaper to fire all people there and only use the license of LucasArts in the future, letting other developers do the work and only get the profit. Disney did this JUST for the money as it is to be expected by them. They don't care for the costumers and fans as they don't care for the workers who are unemployed now because of Disneys greed

Well they did work for L.A. I'm sure they'll find something. But yeah, are you really surprised that big corporations are first interested in money? They have a legal obligation to make money for shareholders. The best companies are not publicly traded because they only have themselves to answer to. So blame greed in general, I'd say.

I do. Bu anyway, there've always been things, franchises, organisations, "worlds", that stayed at least untouched in their cores. But I don't think that a company like Disney care at all for something like that And only because I have accepted that Star Wars was sold to Disney, that doesn't mean I have to understand that. I use to be a lead game tester but Bandai/namco corp bought our parent company and closed the phoenix offices. offered us lower paying positions if we moved to San Francisco [lower pay, higher cost of living area, we calculated it out an we wouldnt be able to survive unless we had like 7 pepole in a 2 room apartment], which was a load of hypocritical nonsense since the dude that offered us the jobs JUST gave us this huge speech about how he never took a step back and that's what we need to shoot for...

true that...vor allem relativ überraschend...die haben doch eigendlich noch ganz gut umsätze gemacht. das dürfte wohl bedeuten dass die nächsten SW games alle scheisse werden, weil von externen entwicklern produziert......

leider gut möglich. dabei sah 1313 so vielversprechend aus... hoffentlich wird das nich wirklich eingestampft, medienberichte sind da widersprüchlich aber generell kann es in der tat sein dass SW games in zukunft schrott sind. viele, die meisten, spiele mit disney-beteiligung sind ja doch eher meh -_-

ich glaub 1313 wird von LA zumindest noch weiter mitentwickelt, auch wenn es an ein anderes studio abgegeben wird. zumindest hoffe ich dass das stimmt...wobei sowas selten gut geht....siehe Alien: Colonial Marine...totale katastrophe, nachdem sie arbeit an andere studios ausgelagert haben....

LucasArts did great things in their prime and I'm sad to see them go, but they really squandered what they had & had stopped being a productive, innovative studio years ago. I think Disney's doing the right thing by letting better-run studios make Star Wars / Indiana Jones games instead. Just sad to see the folks out of work, though I know some folks who used to work there and they've been losing people steadily for years.
