Nikola Tesla One of the Greatist Men of All time.

And most people have No idea who the hell he was outside of a few references in pop culture and movies.

I wish I could have known him. The more I research and learn about him the more disgusted I find myself with the way things turned out

Yes indeed. However, I always try to imagine what would happened if some or the most of his creations should worked today.

But... well as you know, the result was different.

Nikola Tesla. He made a hell of a coil. Also laid much of the the foundation for the modern world. And fuck Edison. But seriously, what an awesome coil...

Yeah, Tesla was the last of the great Mad Scientists.  He almost demolished a city block while testing a device that produced harmonic vibrations.  "Let's see what this does, ah, it makes buildings fall down.  In hindsight, perhaps I should not have started it up in my apartment."

Edison was the creator of 'Industrial' invention:
     Step 1: find a market.
Step 2: have army of minion compete to make product to sell to market.
Step 3: take all the credit.

It's sad how little is known about him in the world that we live in today. As much of the tech. that we use today was inspired by him. He was a man before his own time.  Though I do honestly have to say, he is my idol. I have tried to do some of the stuff he did.

I know...I mean can you imagine it, a world were EVERYBODY has free unlimited access to endless renewable energy? Tony Stark would cream himself.

I blame capitalist greed like useual. Guess this makes me a dangerous Liberal =p

If i remember correctly the reason Wardenclyffe was destroyed is because the government was scared that it would be used for bad. With that much raw power in the ionosphere, it could easily be focused at any point as a weapon. I believe he had plans to make a real death ray using the ionosphere. But he broke it up into several parts so no one nation/country could have the whole plan.

I honestly think Tesla might have been from the future or maybe an alien :3

Ah yes, the Global Energy Grid.  Then Tesla, pitched the idea to his sponsor, Westinghouse, the millionaire said seven words that proved to Tesla that the two would never see eye to eye: "How do we charge people for it."

Although, to be honest, SOMEBODY, would have to pay for the energy.  The Grid was just a distribution system, you still need some way to generate the electricity, and that means resources consumed, buildings and infrastructure to maintain, personnel to pay, etc.

He's been my idol since I was a child. I can't say how many school papers/presentations I did on him. It's really sad how many people have no clue who he is, or what he did :x

I learned a lot about Tesla from the oatmeal.
One of the many tragic stories of history. One of the greatest geniuses in history, generous to no end too. And he was taken advantage off the whole time.

I learned about him after playing Ratchet and Clank. (stop laughing, that game is win.)
More precisely: I loved the Tesla Claw weapon (one of the best in the game) and wondered what 'Tesla' ment, so I looked it up. (mind you, this was before I could speak english and wikipedia existed, thus I didn't know about the exact events back then.)
I learned more about the real conspiracy while playing Assassin's Creed 2 (I think, could be brotherhood) and stumbling about him and the conspiracy in one of the sequences.

Until I watched a documentary on him I only knew of him from the pop culture references and the rock / heavy metal band named Tesla. The man was far ahead of his time, what he imagined doing with giant Tesla Coils, it would be awesome if that had come to be. Besides getting our electricity through those we'd even be getting the internet through them along with tv and radio.

It really sucks what Edison did to him. I also hate the fact that Edison electrocuted many animals in an attempt to show how dangerous AC current can be. If he were here now he'd be shocked seeing how we use AC and DC current together everyday. I believe Tesla wouldn't be shocked at all.

Yeah, no, that's alot of assumption.
Pretty sure that was just a high power radio tower which can be misinterpreted as a way to transmit electricity. Since microwaves can induce bolts of energy in metal even at a distance.
Though NASA did try to use the earth as a generator by using a long inductor cord in orbit, it fried.

Except that Tesla literally said that he had developed technology to give free energy to the world via large towers.

This is why Westinghouse and his other big investors abandoned him -- the idea of giving electricity away wasn't exactly profitable sounding.

No "assumptions" here.

Greatest Scientist of all time, only under appreciated in his time due to Edison's smear campaigns and other inventors fast grab pushes towards copyrights and inventions of his. If he would have been listened to during his lifetime we may very well be much better off then we are now. And Wardenclyffe Tower would not have to be saved by faithful internet fans.

Thanks for sharing. It's sad to consider how much technology that could be saving people billions and saving lives are locked away in rich men coffers and will never see the light of day. =/
