Ok, this is really cool. I heard about this 2 years ago and always wanted to look that up.. I did now.
You know how you need 8 hours (young people need ~10 hours) of sleep each day. What if I told you you don't actually need these 8 hours?
Maybe you know that some of the time (~25%) is spent in a light phase where dreaming happens (i believe that one's called REM sleep). That is the part of sleep where the brain processes all the information you collected while being awake.
So the whole trick behind this is to force your body to skip all the other phases and fall right into rem sleep. That's easier said than done. So how does that work? You basically take short naps evenly spread over the day (and night) instead of sleeping and after a while (4-10 days) your body will adjust and skip all the other phases. And (depending on your pattern) you only need 2hours of sleep a day. What you could achieve with all that extra time! You could like.. be bored even more! >.>' No seriously, I can't wait to try that out for myself, but I can't as long as I'm still in school. No idea what my classes will look like once I start studying. Maybe I'll try that out during summer break ~6 weeks should be long enough :3
For more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep#Comparis... My current favorite is Dymaxion, 6 hours between naps - that should be enough time to go to class if I schedule it right (like I said.. no idea how that'll look like) (I don't actually know how that works when you do heavy physical activities, you may actually need to rest more.. like for your body)
On a sidenote: I'm extremely bad at swearing in english.. I noticed that while writing some of imers story (should be done soonish)..yeah - I changed the plot so I didn't have to deal with that ^^'
