Well despite the bills I tried to work around this week it wasn't all bad. Gamefly sent me the latest X-Com game. And I'll admit I'm having a blast. The ability to customise individual soldiers is fun and while I don't use it all the time I do have soldiers based on me, my boy, and my sister in my A-team squad (we are support, sniper, and heavy in that order). Plus the nickname system is another touch that makes it feel real. In game a soldier doesn't earn a nickname till he reaches Sargent rank and though the nickname can be edited after the computer generated ones seem natural.
The game really helps make you feel like the world is real. As I play missions I can't help but weave little stories about the squad. Like my sisters soldier as a rookie was on a mission investigating a landed scout ship. When her and her fellow rookie were mind controlled by a sectiod commander. My sister shot me, but broke the control turned and her first kill was the sectiod commander. For my sister who just broke up with an abusive and controlling boyfriend it was oddly appropriate
It's loads of fun
I'm definitely going to end up buying this game
