It depends on the book.  If it's a special edition book that includes a lot of bonus content other editions won't include and is singed by the other, that might be a little more worth it.  Then again, if you are printing large text books and a lot of them, you need to make a profit.  Factor that in college students are forced to buy them, they can extort.

However, I do have two tips.  First, by used.  You'll save a lot of money.  Second, if you have a friend that you know is going to the same class and need the same book, but different times, split the cost with them.  Finally, when buying used, check out if you can find older editions.  You got to do research on this, because a cause for an edition change may vary from several small changes or new chapters and information.

Unfortunately you have to buy the latest edition cause that's what the work is based on. >.>

Well, at least that means you'll be getting a good chunk of it back at book sell day, assuming you keep it in good condition.

Nightborn has it pretty much down.  I was going to suggest finding someone who had the previous edition.  I have used craiglist to try and find the right one.  A lot better than shelling out ninety bucks for a binder book.

Hmnm.... well, check if they school/bookstore has a buyback program :0
Usualy (at least from what ive heard) they buy it back for most of the cost (70-80%?) As long as its in realativly good conditon :0 but if your lucky, you might be able to find a used current edition book :0

Wow that brings back memories... the joys of uni! Sometimes i think lecturers select books that cost extra or they get kickbacks, or as two of mine did... wrote the prescribed text. The worst part is after 12 weeks you're lucky if you ever touch it again XD   (i must admit i still use my maths ones though)
