Running Dial-up is a major setback

As the title implies I have resulted to running dial-up as a last resort, since I have no DSL and can no longer pick up free internet from outside. For several years I had used free wireless services I would find from my neighbors, unsure what one but one or two of them. when one goes down another would be there for me to use as a backup. so I had always been online. for most of the time you guys have known me online, I had been, Primarily because I could never afford any sort of service. I had in fact  tried some pre pay internet services when I got donations, from fans and close friends like Mik, but donations have been down recently, and seem to be getting more scarce then ever, If not for finding out about how to use windows to get free SUPER FUCKING CRAPPY dial up service, you would more then likely never see another stream or really large submission from me again, at least not at home where I spend most of my time.

The free wifi I was getting was also pretty inconsistent, lagging, and the cricket wireless I tried was fairly poor and was really noting better then what I was already getting. but now both are gone, there are no backup connections, all that remains is this dial-up, and believe me I cant even open MSN and skype at the same time without going off and online every few seconds. so you guys who enjoy chatting with me on MSN, if this keeps up, I am pretty sure you will not be hearing from me there unless I log on when I have free time at school.

There is a solution,  I browsed the web in search of internet services I could afford, and wow they aren't very starving artist friendly! Nonetheless decided to somehow manage and pay for internet,  after searching round for the cheapest unlimited internet I could find http://www.clear.com/plans/home. although at the moment I cant really afford the the monthly  payment of $49 and some taxes alone the cost of the unit they would have to send out bring the total to $88 for the first month. I really need some help with this first month you guys. please someone Donate, I really do miss the help... and I really miss streaming :/

I know your probably asking what will I do about the months to follow. Well even though I got that list of art you may have seen, since this new issue is about, I will open one slot for one commission every month, each commission will be  consist of 3 chars, background everything, cell shaded real nice costing $55-60 depending on level of difficulty very much discounted from what I had previously charged, hey I have to be fair, i'm real despite. but for now I really need help guys

if you can, and I would love you you did Donate to my paypal tricksta-kun@hotmail.com

Ps Yes it dose make that really annoying dial-up noise when it connects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHW1ho8L7V8

Hmm so what exactly happened to the neighbors wifi?
Tricksta
5 years, 9 months ago
no idea, every-time now when I connect to it I see a message that says one or more of your services has been disconnected, please enter your phone number to get reconnected. and the other one I use to connect to as a backup when that one goes goes offline(which in the past only happened for a couple hours, it has been a week now) that other one just completely vanished, I guess they either moved or got a different service.

[Irony]yeah, it really sucks that he can't use the internet with an connection he didn't pay for at least partially and didn't ask whether he can use it or not in the first place.[Irony]

I mean, I really would like to see more of you Tricksta, but also really want you to use legal access.

you could get another job that gives you regular income and also do commissions so you could save up for emergencies

oh and you could work 8 hours a day besides of going to school. I mean, who the hell needs to sleep anyway.
Also you could stop eating, that would save you a lot of money!!!

Well some of us work and study, it's not an incredibly impossible thing to do. But i understand why it would be easier just to ask for money to be thrown your way for luxury services like broadband.
Anodorhynchus

i work and study too, but i'm not offering comissions for "only" 60 usd that take a few hours to make. I'm also just a watcher :)

It worked for me when I was out of a router for a while. Then again, I also closed their network, safeguarded it and configured it for free... but that just comes naturally when you are an IT specialist. Also, they didn't ask me to for the usage, I just did it for them, because I don't want to use insecure networks.

Oh dear god -- Dial up, I *really* haven't been forced to be using actual dial-up for a decade now. While I love to shroud it in positive nostalgia ... I never want to go back. God how I hated failed dialin attempts! God, how I loved old style BBSing and what not. God I hated it, too ...

Well. If you live in America, there are several free dial up services as long as you have a dedicated land line.

Or if you live near a big city, you can get 4G LTE unlimited Data plan for like 50 bucks a month.

( I live out in the woods. We can't even get high speed internet because the lines don't support it. The only internet we can get is 21 kbp/s dial up.. So, I know that feel, bro.)

The slowest I ever had was ISDN with 64 Kb/s download. We never needed dial-up. If the voice annoy you, use a modem and now a audio-coupler.
Tricksta
5 years, 9 months ago
whats an audio-coupler do?
Scoutter
5 years, 9 months ago
An Audio-coupler is a dish for a telephone to place into. It is basicly nothing else then a microhone and a speaker, using a regular phone to "communicate" with the other computer on the phone. I only know those sounds from such a device. Our modems, if we had anny, never made any noises when dialing.

The only dialing thing we have which makes those sounds is our fax-machine.

That's pretty nostalgic yo |=(:3

Still I wish you good luck with having a better internet soon.

I wonder even if Dial-up is still supported in NL....

Also a fitting avatar/smiley for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xhnvhwq10e4q8k/56k_power.gif

I pay around $50 for both phone and internet (same company) It sucks to hear that you'll be using dial-up (I haven't tried it but I do hear it's painfully slow)

Well to make things go a little bit faster, you can get Adblock and NoScript for Firefox so that way it won't load the advertisements and extra scripts.

I'll make mention of this, maybe it will help find someone who can afford to help out financially. =)
