I don't like FA to begin with as it is a bigoted site. However, I do not completely agree with you. No one should ever have an impact on someones art aside from helpful and constructive criticism.

It is asking too much. People are entitled to an opinion. Believing or hope to the contrary is just simply willful ignorance. You have to learn to compartmentalize the situations.
