Heart of SHIT!

Decided to start working on my Heart of Darkness playthrough a bit. Game worked fine, but this is what I got in the video.

Gets pretty rough in the last part. You got TONS of those little black shadow things swarming you, then two of those big armored things that split in two if you don't kill them fast enough, and to top it off, you got the big boss occasionally setting the ground on fire. Pretty hard.

Which operating system are you using?

XP. I hear it won't work on 7 anyway.

Hmm. The only reason I've had this happen is when the game changes the computer's color depth. Old games can use color settings like 256 colors or 16-bit.

What I'd suggest you try is before starting the game and your recording program, reduce your color depth (same place as screen resolution) and try again. If 16-bit doesn't work then it might be 256 colors. 256 colors probably won't be an option in that menu, but you can right-click on any program and choose 256 color mode in the compatibility settings. You can just launch any program with that and it'll work.

It might be that your screen recording program just doesn't support that color depth, not that it's disrupted by the sudden change, or that the game uses multiple color depths (like 256 colors for FMV, 16-bit for game) and in that case I don't know what you'd do. Hearts of Darkness was on the PlayStation though, so you can play/record that version as a last resort.

Good call. I'll try that and let you know if it worked. The PS1 version was the first one I tried, but for some reason, it doesn't work on my emulator. I've managed to get it to work awhile back with another video plugin, but now it crashes my emulator.

If you want to play the Playstation version, try Xebra (http://drhell.web.fc2.com/ps1/ -- Click the picture at the bottom of the page). It's the most compatible PS1 emulator, and was developed constantly until about mid-2011.

Never heard of that one. I'll try that too, though Heart of Darkness is really the only one I have that won't work on epsxe.
