Although I live in Humboldt Bay, California, I'm safe, as most of my city (Eureka) is on a low bluff that's just high enough to not be a problem, and our part of the region didn't get nearly the damage that nearby Crescent City, 70 mi. north, received from the tsunami.
My heart goes out to Japan, which took the brunt of this massive 8.9 quake and the devastating tsunami in the Sendai & Miyagi regions. Hundreds, perhaps thousands may have perished in this tragedy, but thankfully, not millions. Japan may take a couple years to get back on its feet.
