In case anyone wonders where I've been...
On the night of December 30th, the router I had been using as a wireless bridge died, but only for wired connections (my desktop and servers); wireless worked fine, but I have few adapters. This was just after finding out my only irl friend is going to have to move out of the area for financial reasons. ;~; My credit card came in the next morning but I was on my way to work so I couldn't activate it.
I worked 14 hours at the New Years Eve party. It was a 6-course plated meal with a choice of 4 different entree options. I was running food for 2 servers and covering their tables for them as they worked the bar as well. Then I cleaned up and did inventory on all the product in the banquets department. I clocked out at 3:45am. Since I had put in so many hours and impressed the top brass at the hotel, the F&B manager was generous enough to provide me with a hotel room to get a bath and 2 hours sleep in after the restaurant manager gave me a wilted salad and some VERY stale pound cake to eat (I had the whole cooler as options, but I was so tired I could hardly stand).
I woke up, clocked in again, and started on sidework until my immediate manager showed up, set up for a wedding (This lady paid to get married in the median of the driveway on 1/1/2013, and had a buffet of fast food at her reception, wtf). Setting up 9 bottles of champagne for a toast, the cold shock made one of them spontaneously explode; had I been a little closer, I might have been hurt badly. It didn't take 4 people to handle a buffet for 25 people, so we left one server, 2 of us started putting away Christmas decorations (there are a lot!) and the manager disappeared to handle various issues for guests and management. It was an easy day, but I was so tired...
I came home, fixed my internet, and passed the fuck out in my work clothes. Sorry to anyone I was talking to at the time. I really needed the sleep. I need to pack up more Christmas stuff today and set up for a breakfast for 50 tomorrow, so it should be another short, easy day.
Happy New Year! ...damn, I didn't even get to touch this bottle of champagne I bought earlier in December. I finally set up my credit card, but my server project is delayed a bit (more on that later I hope). And here I was worried about having no hours on the schedule, lol. Have a fun year my furry friends.
