My answer- not really. You see the problem with a representative is that they are a person that stands for a group as a whole, and anything they do is reflected on that group. I know a lot of our kin over in FA think that a person like Dragoneer should be a representative for the fandom. Problem with that- Dragoneer gets a little too wild at cons (we've all seen it). I know we should let our hair down at a con and have fun, but some people say Neer can drink an Irish man under the table. So with him as a rep, people outside the fandom would see as all as wasted and rude drunks. Not good.
Some people have opted that 2 Gryphon would make a nice rep for us. Yes he is a good speaker, but 2 is also known for being pretty blunt and can at times say enough cuss words that censoring it would sound like a traffic jam on a major freeway. People outside the fandom would likely then see us as a bunch of foul mouthed pricks, and that wouldn't be good either.
My opinion is that no one should represent us. Not one person, not one group, not one site. NOBODY. We are far too diverse to have anyone represent us. Hell we all seen the uproar FA had over two furs going on daytime tv and talking about the fandom. Those furs never mentioned any names and made the questions solely about them, yet a lot of FA acted like those two furs were hauling all of the fandom onstage with them. So my advise is that we don't need a spokesperson to speak for us, unless ya'll want another travesty like THAT happen again...
